Doug Henning? Actually, pretty great magician, but cheesy "performance techniques". What other magicians were memorable for excess? Copperfield did some silly stunts, but his live show is pretty damn entertaining . . . if you can forgive the music video style.

Gallagher wasn't a magician, was he? Someone with an act centering around smashing fruit would never make it today.
i like David Blane..is that wrong is that not a magician or not retro?

Blackstone I remember he was on Reading Rainbow and Chuck Jones who my mom use to watch in the 60s.
