Would you want to? And I mean for any long period of time. I often think about how things were back then, of course TV shows and movies were awesome, the music at that time was the greatest, the toys and video games were great (transformers, GI Joe, Nintendo!), and all around it is just an era that was really fun. But then I started thinking about how that was as we saw it when we were kids.... I wonder if I were to go back now to sometime in the late 80's, if it would feel similar to now, minus the technological advances we so rely on (internet, cell phones, advanced computers, etc)?
So as far as going back, I think I would prefer to just be able to go back as a tourist for a day or two, to see this golden era through adult eyes, but would be happy to come back home to my HD TV, high speed internet and cell phone. :-)

I'd wear a jean jacket, play all the greatest video games in arcades back when arcades were awesome, vote for Ronald Reagan, attend the celebrated Sgt. Slaughter v. Iron Sheik boot camp match in Madison Square Garden, root for my beloved Washington Redskins as they win the 82' and 88' superbowls, and spend all the money I have on brand-spanking new transformers and G.I. Joe figures and vehicles.

Just thinking of having crates full of G1 MISB megatrons and optimus primes... a couple dozen cobra terrordromes... so much money to be had!

Oh and speaking of money I'd invest in Microsoft very early on.

You read my mind Dude, I would most certainly LOVE to go back and see the 80's:)

I was born in 89, but I remember the cartoons, the movies, even the music which I call better than modern. If I could go back even if it was just for 1 week, I'd be driving around in a (what were the cars like back then? ), wearing jeans with holes in the kneecaps, Aerosmith T-Shirts, denim jackets and have rocker-long hair

I'd be popular amongst Aerosmith fans, I'd love to see my favourite movies at the cinema all over again and start collecting Nintendo consoles from the beginning

Come on science, start making time machines!

I would love to go back to 1986, the year I was born, to see what life was like then. I'd wear acid jeans with those baggy shirts, and I'd play NES and arcade games. I'd also tape every cartoon show I could so I could bring it with me to the future. I'd also probably invest in Microsoft.

I'd probably go back as a visitor, since I have gotten used to living in the 00s, what with the Internet and all. I'd love to see what Reagan was like as President and how our economy changed and fluctuated in real time back then. I'd also probably love to watch Saturday Morning cartoons :)

I'd go at the current age I am now, collect all of the obscure cartoons and TV shows on tape and return to 2007.

As some of you have mentioned, I guess I'd also go back at my current age as well, maybe for a week vacation to go to a Bon Jovi concert at the height of their popularity in the late 80's, pick up a couple of NES consoles brand new, collect every transformer I possibly could, and then take all of that back with me to the current time. Now THAT would be a vacation!! :-)

I think we look at past decades as we look at yearbooks-some of us choose to think of those times as good, and some not so good.

in the end we are all the same from past to present,we have just changed clothes and updated technology.

I'm with you, 'cept for the Bon Jovi stuff...make it David Lee Roth era Van Halen and I'm so there.

Not to mention the tons of comic books I'd be coming back with in mint condition. :)

If I could go back to the 80s I'd go back to when my parents had sex to have me and just run into the bedroom and smack my dad on the ass and yell: "I'M YOUR SON FROM THE FUTURE!!! AHAHAHAHA!!!"

                                I'd keep things really simple.

As we get older, we like to complicate things and make things harder than they really are.

-I'd go to some Bulls, Bears, Cubs, Dodgers games.

-I'd document life (video taping it)...everything...arcades, fashion, music, the pizza place, retailers (where they sold garbage pail kids, etc).

-I'd love to see some 80's movies in the theater...esp...goonies, ghostbusters and spaceballs.

                                -Watch saturday morning cartoons again.
