I dont know if any body would remember this but Fox kids and Fox primetime did have a couple of cartoons that actually had a pretty good and more mature story. so far i was only able to find a miniscule amount of information in the web(amazingly). Red Planet was a 3part mini series that came from a novel by Robert A. Heinlein by the same title. On IMDB it says it aired in 94' but from my memory and resources it apparently aired in 96' in the east coast. im guessing air dates differ from coast to coast. Also it seems as if there are absolutly no picture or screen shot of this series (as if it never existed) so im providing art that i found rummaging through old FoxkidsClub Totally kids magazine that they circulated when foxkids was alive.

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0216502/

The OTHER animation was shown during prime time hours and i dont think was affiliated with foxkids. I dont even remember the title but it pretty much is another sci-fi based animation focusing on a group of alien beings that look almost human except that they greet each other by dilating there iris radically. Something sparks a war and the sole heir to the throne escapes with a close relative and he is sent to earth and somehow(i forget) are taken by adotive parents. the mini-series continues with the main character growing up and soon finding out his origins and royal blood.

Most importantly i dont remember the title to this and if any of you guys can help that would be great.

I'm from Buffalo, NY and I remember Red Planet. It did air on Fox in 1994 but not Fox Kids originally. I remember it first airing at about 7:00pm or 8:00pm eastern time during the week. Later Fox Kids aired Red Planet on Saturday mornings.

The other animation you mentioned was called Invasion U.S.A. This also originally aired during primetime hours during the week and later had a brief Saturday morning run.

Hopefully the following information will help out.

On my quest to uncover everything related to Fox Kids, I have discovered probably more information than you need. The three part mini-series Red Planet aired three times on the Fox Kids Network. It premiered on Saturday, May 14, 1994 in the last timeslot of the day, with the second and third parts aired on Saturday, May 21, 1994 and Saturday, May 28, 1994 (respectively). In the fall of 1994, Fox decided to pre-empt Where on Earth is Carmen Sandiego?, which aired in the 11:30 AM timeslot, from the end of October 1994 to February 1995 in order to air a series of specials such as the Spider-Man sneak preview, Grunt and Punt, AJ's Time Traveler's, etc. Nevertheless, Red Planet repeated on Saturdays in this time slot on January 7, 1995, January 14, 1995 and January 21, 1995. Finally, almost a year and a half later, Red Planet aired again during the Fox Kids Spring Fling. This time, it pre-empted Life With Louie for three weeks. The airdates were Saturdays May 4, 1996, May 11, 1996, and May 18, 1996. Red Planet has not aired in the United States since and did not air in primetime on Fox.

The series was produced by Gunther-Wahl Productions. Lee Gunther, whom the Gunther part of the production company comes from, was the VP of Foreign Productions at Fox Kids, which is why it aired on Fox Kids. Gunther has since passed away (1998).

As for the other series, like cquinniey said, is Invasion America, which aired on the WB Network in primetime and also on Saturday mornings on KidsWB. It aired on Tuesday nights from June 8, 1998 to July 7, 1998, airing all 13 episodes. Then, 10 of the 13 episodes repeated on KidsWB from September 19, 1998 until October 31, 1998.

Thanks alot for all that info. it seems like in terms of images there are almost nothnig for both of these animations. I just need to know are there any vhs or dvds' or even just files flying about somewhere in cyber space? That would be sweet if i can see them again. just because it was a different pace of what i was used to watching in terms american animation (more serious story and not just simple slap stick, or some subliminal educational cartoon).

Invasion America. The guy who voiced Lexington from Gargoyles also voiced a telekenetic bad guy in this series.

I remember more of the commercials and promos rather than the show itself. I knew it had something to do with space, but that was it.

i would say it was one of those mini series that just had a more interesting story to it because it both came from a book. not to mention i do like sci-fi genre's
