This whole Christmas shopping for my daughter has gotten me thinking how much cooler toys were when I was a kid. I think almost ever year my mom got me like 10 WWF action figures, do kids even play with action figures anymore? My grandma would always get me the newest gaming console, I remember she got me a Sega Genesis when I was 4, and I swear to this day it is still probably my favorite present, now she just writes check, and my mother gets me whatever I need for my condo. I asked my daughter what she wanted for Christmas and she said "I don't know... what ever you think is nice." So I asked what do you want Santa to bring you. She says "Nothing... you can just buy me stuff." Normally I would just go get her some cool stuff I saw on commercials but I'm convinved kids don't play with toys anymore. Anyone else have this problem?

How old is your daughter? Her age could be a factor.

Honestly in the last few years I have noticed a lot of kids feeling this way. They are not as materialistic as previous generations- the only things they want are technology related. I don't know if this is because of toys (which still seem really cool to me) or if it's because their parents are poorer than their grandparents were.

Maybe the technology is the problem. Kids are less exposed to toy commercials because they spend more time on the internet than watching TV. I guess it could be a good thing.

Hm, I dunno, my son at 8 still wants whatever he sees on tv like most kids when we were younger. (He just doesn't GET half of it, of course lol) Of course video games are still a huge thing but he loves legos and beyblades and things like that.
