The other Im at my friends house and were watching tv, and next thing i know i find out a shocking piece of information...Scott Baio is 45 and single.. i start to thinking about what it is that shocks me.. its not that Scoot Baio is single. that doesnt bother me.... its that Scoot Baio is 45 that shocks me. I mean this is Charles, and even though it wa s alil b4 my time, this is Chachi.

and it dawns on me.. dam time has flown by, like i siad I remember him being a 20 somethin yr old Charles.. now hes gettin up there, granted the man doesnt look a day over 30, but still the thought that he is 45. Same goes for this time im on wikipedia or sum site.. and Im look up old movies, and i come across the page for Ralph Macchio, i see what he looks like now a days.. and its like wtf .. what happen to the pip squeek little man, that dresses up as a shower back in the 80's? and again it dawns on me.. time has flown by.

my main point is, that even though i KNOW ive grown up, its still weird for me to see some of my childhood stars aging.. From Ralph to Scoot, THE OLSEN TWINS.. hell even seeing some of the tv stars i loved at as kid passing away is still shocking to me (RIP MARVIN ZINDLER). do yall get like that? do yall get this weird shocked feelin in you, whenever you see a tv/movie star u loved as a kid, aged and mature?

I think Mr. Rogers was one of the biggest shocks to my system and to my memories of childhood.. when you grow up watching someone on tv, you keep that image of them in your head, and when they age or in Mr. Rogers case, they die, its like dam "i really aint a kid anymore", and i cant go back

Well think about it- Madonna is in her...what, mid-late 40's? She's prolly going through "the change" (menopause). AARP!

But then again, if he were still alive, Hendrix would be, 64? 65?

You know, my mother had a moment like that a while ago. We were watching Rifleman. It's an old show that started in 1958 and ended in 1963. As a child, I think she said they saw it in reruns (they didn't have a TV at that time, iirc, and my mom was born in '56). It just hit her how old Johnny Crawford would be now. He played the Rifleman's son and what he'd look like now. He'd be in his 60s now.

It's tough watching folks on TV. When I was a kid, I used to watch the Partridge Family and The Brady Bunch. I couldn't associate any of the kids on those shows as being adults, especially Bobby and Cindy (Brady Bunch) and Danny (Partridge Family) and how my mom and her siblings, are in the same age range as the kids for both these shows. Time sure does fly...

They aren't that old. They'd probably range from early 30s to late 30s. The oldest, iirc, was Billy and he was born in 1969. The rest of them were born in the 70s.

yeah, I know what you mean. I was watching Rock of Love with brett micheals and thought--wow he is really aging all of a sudden. Then I realized how much I have changed since he was in the lime light last. Shocking how it sneaks up on you like that. A couple of months ago my teen daughter mentioned that she thought a boy on an old roseanne episode was cute. That was when it occured to me that it must have been a new episode when I was pregnant with her. That made me remember : as a little girl I always wanted to marry Jack from 3s company. My mother tried to explain to me that in the time it took me to grow up that he would get older too and would be much too old for me by then. I soon lost interest and moved on to other tv men who would capture my obsession. It wasn't untill my daughter mentioned the cute boy on roseanne that I remembered the unrational sadness that I felt when I heard the news that my first imaginary husband(remember I was only 4)had died. How did that much time go by? Strange how I have linked my realization of mortality to Jack crissy and Janet. I just keep trying to remember that I cant have a mid life crissis now because 31+31 only= 62 and I want to live to be at least 63;)

I was watching something on VH1 awhile back, and it featured a blurb about New Kids on the Block, and they were talking to this tubby, balding, middle aged man...and then it occured to me- it was Donnie F-ing Wahlberg. The "Bad" one, the hot one...and here he is looking like a chubby, suburban, receeding hairlined..."Dad". It's good the guy came around a bit...what with the arsons and drugs and the like. But it just...blew my mind.

I've thought like that too, like wondering how old a character (or an actor) would be today. The longer ago the show was, the older the people are now.

it's even weirder not watching a show for a loooong time and then watching it again. I used think Sam from Clarissa Explains it All was cute and then i re-watched it last week with my friend and i remember thinking "Ew, he's like 14 here!!!"
The same thing goes with Adam Reid from You Can't Do That on Televsion, he will forever be a 13 year old boy in my eyes (13 year old i was in love with when i was 5). It's pretty creeptastic
