Ok, its 05:17 where I am just now and the craziest of subjects are of interest to me just now.
So, what was, for you, the biggest "bad" secret you've kept from your parents. In terms of something you did wrong, but kept from them and got away with it?
For me, its nothing major but would have cause a good few weeks grounding at the time.
Sometime in 1992, when I was 12, I accidently broke the left rear light lense on a Caravan when I was playing near it with my friend on our bikes. The owner had come out of the Caravan, asked me for my name and address, which I duly gave him, then dispatched me to fetch my Parents.
When I got home... I hesitated. It was a beautiful Saturday afternoon. The first Dad had gotten free for a while and he was sitting watching TV with Mum. It was so peaceful. I didn't want to spoil that. I knew I would be grounded for a good two weeks.
So, to stall and give me time to think how I could break the news as positively as I could, I offered to make a cup of tea.
That alone should have tipped them off. It was highly unusual for me to turn up at home in the middle of the afternoon on a nice summers day, let alone to then offer to make a cup of tea. Had they have questioned me, I would have caved... they could always tell when I was lying. But my parents didn't catch on. So I made a cup of tea and while doing so, decided to stay stumm and hope they didn't ask questions.
For the next few days, every knock at the door terrified me. But a week or so passed and the caravans left. I had made it through unscathed.
I didn't tell my mother till last year, a full 14 years after the incident!
I'm sure Dad would have had a laugh at it if I had told him too.
