My apologies if this thread exists. . . . I searched for it, but found very, very little.
Who remembers this toy called GRE-GORY? It was a purple rubber bat, about 15 inches across (wingspan) with a clear plastic window covering his "chest cavity". A small button in his back, when pushed, made his "blood" squirt from a tiny hole at the top of the chamber, thus allowing the "blood" to drizzle and squirm down his ribs. . . .all the while, remaining contained in the chest cavity, so as to make it still a very clean toy.
There are pictures of me carting this thing around from the time I was three all the way to age ten. I simply LOVED this toy.
I remember having "spook houses" in my basement, where my little brother and friends from the neighborhood would get out the Halloween decorations, decorate the basement, then have parents or other friends walk through the basement. I put my He-Man BattleBones to good use, tying fishing line to one of it's legs, then pulling it so as to make it "jump" into the path of a passerby. Thrown rubber cockroaches and snakes added a nice touch, but my trusty GRE-GORY toy strung up to raise and lower from the drop-ceiling was the capper. . . . .
Wow, we had supportive parents back then! Willing to play along with anything.
What happened?
