there were 2 shows i somewhat remember watching when i was little (i believe both were on nick or possibly pbs) ... one was with a little bee, a girl bee, and it was basically a show about her life, it was a cartoon, for some reason 'amelia' or something like that sticks in my head... and the other show started out with a young lady (real, not cartoon) in her house and if i remember right she tells a story each episode and as she tells the story it then goes into cartoon (i think... memory is a little cloudy on that one). help!!!

I remember this show my sister used watch it before she went to school. I couldn't wait till it was over so I could watch Botsmaster.
I miss the old Nick. The Snoozles, Spartacus, David the Gnome, Mya the Bee.

The first show was maya the bee and the other one sounds to me like Emilie-which was a short on Pinwheel-it had a song that went like this: Its me Emilie you're little friend as nice as can be and my little hedgehog Humphrey My big brother Stephen and little sister Pat... that's all I remember. But she always wore red.

The first is Maya the Bee, the second is Maple Town. The woman was usually by her kitchen window, and wore a red or pink dress (might have been gingham print) and an apron, and she had dark hair.
I also recall XUXA...she came under a good deal of flack because she wore clothes that...well, might be better worn by a woman of the night...a woman of ill repute, if thou wilst?
And Emily...I remember her as well: It's me, Emily, your little friend as nice as can be You can always tell it is me, Big Brother Steven, and Little sister Pat, And my little hedge hog Humphrey, who shares my adventures with me... yippee.
There was more, but that's what I recall, and she sung it in a very high shrill voice.

I watched xuxa weekday mornings in the mid/late 90s. I would tune in for the songs, then switch over to garfield or power rangers when it went to the games or guests. The show (and xuxa herself) are from brazil. There were several factors to the show's demise; Some parental groups felt she was being too sexy (they should have seen the brazilian version of the show, where she dressed more like madonna), they also objected to the way she would kiss a boy from the audience after each episode, her thick accent & broken english made it hard for the audience to understand what she was talking about (personally, I found her accept utterly adorable), and the schedule was hellish for her.
Xuxa still has a show btw, just not in the US. She went back to brazil & is a megastar there.
Here's a clip from one of her older brazilian shows:
Here's one from after her US show:
