I was 7 years old. I got to witness the start of Nicktoons, and they were good at the time! I don't really blame the Nicktoons for the start of Nick's downfall. They just got carried away after a while with bringing in 20 new toons every year. And it didn't help that their newer ones weren't up to par with the older ones.
It was Doug, Rugrats, and then Ren and Stimpy back to back. I think it's pretty cool to have seen the first airings. I wish I found someone who taped them with commercials.
IMO, btw, Aaah! Real Monsters was the first bad Nicktoon. I never could get into it.

I did...if I remember correctly, it was on really early on a Sunday morning, like 7 a.m. my time (PST). Regardless, it's one of my fondest memories...cartoons were fun back then.

yeah i think that you are right. i think that they came on on a sunday. i think that the first ren and stimpy was the one that had ren climbing stimpy's nose hair to get up a tower. i could be wrong. i watched them while i sat on the foot of my bed. on my great grandmothers tv that i asked for when she died. wow those are all strage memories.
I used to watch Nickelodeon at the foot of my bed when I would watch it in my room, too! That was way back to my earliest memories. And what great memories they are. Sometimes I held my favorite stuffed animal (bunny) while watching.
I was 11 and I think they premeired on a Saturday evening. That's when I'd watch them anyhow... the three were grouped in with Welcome Freshmen, Fifteen, Clarissa...then the Nicktoons, followed by Are You Afraid of the Dark... Roundhouse might have been in there too, but I don't think that show came out till 1992-93...
oh yeah i remember, i think it was right around the time YCDTOT stopped airing completely. My sister got me all excited by saying that Nickleodeon was making their own cartoons. I thought that sounded amazing. I remember I didn't like Rugrats at first but it grew on me. I thought Ren and Stimpy was awesome and i loved Doug. Good times, i wish i or my sister had taped it but what can ya do?
I remember watching. It was a pretty big deal for Nick to have made their own cartoons at that time. It was a real transition for them that has for the most part paid off. But it signaled the death of the variety that made Nick special for me.

The first episode of Ren and Stimpy was the one where Stimpy won a contest to meet his favorate cartoon character Muddy Mudskipper. Stimpy gets himself into an episode of "The Muddy Mudskipper Show" and Ren misses Stimpy from leaving.

i think i've seen that premiere, i know i saw the premiere's of those three, but i can't remember them porperly, was only tiny. like aaah! real monsters too though, don't think it was too bad. the megadrive (Genisis) game was pretty enjoyable, as tv games go

If I'm not mistaking, the Nicktoons premiered on a Sunday morning. I couldn't really get into them though.
