Sorry, I think this one's so easy I'm ashamed but I still can't remember. It was an animated show about a family who went back in time and got stuck in the dinosaur age and befriended another family of cave people.

I remember both the daughter and the father had bright hair and there was a (I think) red haired kid.

In one episode they tried to contact an aeroplane that kept flying by, by building a transister which ultimately got distroyed...
