It sucked, badly. Too many animation mistakes and the voices were horrible. All 3 Mario cartoons were pretty bad though.

I agree, that show was soooo horrible. The voices to this show sound NOTHING to the voices from the video games. I especially hate the musical numbers in every episode which is so babyish.

It ain't the Godfather, that's for sure.
I never was expecting anything that the critics would drool over, but I enjoyed it as a kid.

That show came around the time I stopped watching Saturday Morning cartoons. I believe it was on NBC originally. There schedule basically sucked by that time.

I watched one or two episodes and got bored with the show.

Super Mario Bros. Supershow! is the best one of the three. At least it had live action scenes.

The other two weren't quite great. They were like trying to put a video game inside a 30 min show (which is, in other words, transplanting a platformer into it). Cartoons based on video games using this method aren't in the least bit interesting.

Wow, people who hate this show at once. I love this show, I have it on the complete series on DVD. This show was like the best out of all the Mario cartoons although the name of the show wasn't that creative, like using the name "Super Mario Bros 3" in the name of the show isn't really a good name, and it's not even the third Mario cartoon. They should have just called it The Adventures of Super Mario Bros. I mean heck they did use Adventures of Sonic the Hedgehog which was based off Sonic 2, but they didn't call it Adventures of Sonic the Hedgehog 2.

Anyway, this show is like the best out of the Mario cartoons. It relates more to the video game than SMBSS did because for one thing, this show actually has the worlds from the SMB3 video game while SMBSS had different worlds that wasn't in any of the games (Jungle Land, Rap Land, etc.). I just think they should have used the SMBSS voice actors in this show like Captain Lou Albano and Danny Wells, I think those voice actors for Mario and Luigi were better than the voices in this show. That show was awesome and I'm glad to have it on DVD. Now I can't wait for Captain N and the New Super Mario World on DVD, I know that show is not as good as the other remaining Mario cartoons (same thing with the new Captain N season) but hey at least Yoshi's in that show, that's like the best part of the SMW cartoon. I can't wait to get Captain N and the New Super Mario World on DVD.

I too am amazed at the amount of distaste, I LOVED this show, in some ways better than SMBSS because of the fact that it actually followed the games rather than making everything a random spoof of some other story using lands and sometimes even characters that were not in the actual game.

But then SMBSS did have some better points, I'll second on the voice acting, Lou Albino and co. were better cut out for the voices, and the live action segment, from what I understand, was supposed to be what their home in Brooklyn was like (as if they turned to cartoons in the Mushroom Land), which has some merit in making things seem just a tad more believable (as believable as fantasy can be).
