Ok, I got this idea. I have no means of implementing it, I just have this idea.

A new cable or satelitte channel devoted to nothing but pleasing those in their 30's... indulging their every retro whim.

Now, we can certainly have some shows to fit older and younger audiences, but the basis of the programing would be early-mid 80's programming.

Would it sell? That is my question.

I know I'm asking a biased audience, but would that idea generate enough advertisement revenue to be financially viable?

Try to look at it objectively, I need an answer in about 4 minutes, I'm on hold with the VP of programming for Hughes (DirecTV).

It may not skyrocket to top ratings immediately, but I think it could be really successful. Look how long it took Adult Swim to get as popular as it is. And I'd bet a pretty high percentage of Adult Swim viewers are in the 25-35 age range.
If it was done right, I'd bet it could be pretty rad.

It'll do well. You have to take into account the "greying population" and the fact that all babies born today are at least 30.

Its a shame no one really has cable access anymore, otherwise I'd be all up in that shit. Huge corporations have taken over the air-waves, so this idea is mearly theoretical.

How about if the channel was featured in O Magazine? Would that help? I want to get this thing off the ground!

            Good call.
I say put on a bunch of Ben Affleck movies.

But isn't that getting away from the whole concept??

This needs to be a grassroots movement! And by grass roots, I mean spark 'em up!

I had to sit through a bunch of Ben Affleck and J-Lo movies on a Greyhound bus trip from Adelaide to Melbourne (which is about 13 hours). Holy crap! I'd never seriously considered slitting my own wrists before but sheesh!

Here's my idea. Instead of a tv channel, you make a website that features only shows from the 80s. The name of the site can be Retro Stuff! No, Classic Junk! Well, the name isn't important. Just focus on getting the rights to all those 80s tv show openning credits for now. To make the website appeal to a wider audience though, include stuff from the 70s and 90s as well. Then you'll be set my friend.
