Which ones were the best, ya think? "We are the world" or "Do they know it's Christmas?" or what about "Sun City" and "Hands Across America" I think there were more... what about the big music concerts? Live Aid, Amnesty, No Nukes, Farm Aid...why aren't there more of those these days? Come on! There's gotta be a cause...wasn't there just a Live Aid-ish thing 2-3 years ago?

The dancer in me wants to say "Sun City", while my inner balladeer wants to say that Dionne Warwick And Friends' "That's What Friends Are For" was wonderful (although not as much as Rod Stewart's original version). I'll hedge my bets and say that I enjoy both.

I was really young when "We Are the World" came out but I still remember it. My fav would have to be "Do They Know Its Christmas"

Yeah, I'm partial to "Do They Know It's Christmas?" myself. The best part is, of course, Bono's line ("Well, tonight, thank God it's them/insteaaaad of youuuuuuuu . . . ").

I'm partial to "Hear N' Aid's" "We're Stars", nothing like Quiet Riot, Ted Nugent, Twisted Sister, part of Night Ranger, Queensryche, Ronnie James Dio, and hoards of other 80's guitar and heavy metal folks rocking out for a cause, complete with a super long guitar solo by George Lynch (Dokken), Neil Schon (Journey), Brad Gillis (Night Ranger), Buck Dharma (Blue Oyster Cult), Craig Goldie (Dio's band), the two dudes from Twisted Sister, and even Dave Murray and Adrian Smith of Iron Maiden.

Bruce Springsteen - Born In The USA
Timbuk 3 - The Future's So Bright, I Gotta Wear Shades
                  Nena - 99 Luftballons

These were three of the most misunderstood songs of the 80's, but all for a good cause.

Michael Jackson - Man In The Mirror

I also love that they actually included the guys from Spinal Tap too- they're actually pretty good musicians.

My two favorite multi artist ones are:

Sun City; Pete Townshend, Bob Dylan, Joey Ramone and Miles Davis all together, that's amazing.

and Smoke on the Water [Rock Aid Armenia] featuring Ian Gillian, Dave Gilmour, Chris Squire from Yes and members of Queen among others.

I found one on youtube I thought was crummy but again interesting to see a bunch of artists I like together, it was Spirit of the Forrest and featured Brian Wilson, Ringo Starr, Jon Anderson from Yes and Kate Bush among others.

                      For individual artist stuff;

Roger Daltrey - After the Fire (written by Pete Townshend, funds from the single went to the Live Aid fund. The Who nearly played it Live Aid but it was dropped during rehersals.)

                      Anti-war:

                      Kate Bush - Army Dreamers

Frank Zappa - I Don't Wanna Get Drafted

Pink Floyd - the entire Final Cut album (it was protesting Margaret Thatcher and the Falklands war.)

                      Anti-drunk driving:

Black Flag - Drink and Drive

Married with Children did a parody of the trend in an episode called Rock of Ages. There was a fake benefit video in it for Old Aid which featured Robby Kriegger from the Doors, Richie Havens, John Sebastian and a few others.
