Cartoon Network from 5, 10 years ago isn't that different from today. It's mostly the same shit. As long as Metalocalypse and Venture Bros are on, then I don't give a fuck. I rather watch those shows over any of the Cartoon Cartoons. Those shows were played to death and I was sick of them. Sheesh. Enough "CN sucks now" threads.

IMO, Cartoon Network isn't as good today as it was in its heyday. I can only think of maybe 4 shows that I can actually stand to watch. Luckily, if I want a cartoon fix I can turn it to Boomerang. lol

It only sucks now because you grew up. CN aired a bunch of crappy cartoons in the past as well. It's just that they are forgotten. I like watching Ben 10, Juniper Lee, Storm Hawks and Foster's.

Cartoon Network as it is today can be summed up in five words:

            Complete, utter, waste of time.

I prefer to watch the classic cartoons so i usually tune into Boomerang. The CN doesn't really have anything i like to watch anymore so i just don't watch it.

frankly i don't watch boomerang as much as i used to. they took out some of the 90s shows, but as for the rest of the channel, it's getting old

I was never a big Cartoon Network person, but I don't see that much of a difference between the "old" CN and the "new" CN. The only difference today is that they don't air Looney Tunes anymore. CN still overplays Scooby Doo, Tom and Jerry and other shows. CN overplayed many shows in the past as well. It's just that you were too young to notice it. I personally blame Cartoon Network for the decline of Saturday Morning and Weekday Afternoon cartoons (well, that and when NBC first stopped airing cartoons in 1992).

The main reason why CN changed is because you aren't kids anymore. They can't keep airing the same shows forever. It would get boring after a while.

It's not as great as it used to be. The classic shows that basically put them on the map are gone or at least put into the Top 5 thing. Toonami is just overrun by Japanese cartoons and it's only 2 hours. They brought live-action into the mix, although I have to admit that I love Goosebumps and the movie Haunting Hour: Don't Think About It, was pretty good. I'm getting a little tired of complaining, we're all older now and we should just let kids have their fun.

CN had more variety back then; they showed both old and then-new stuff.

I agree with that. In a few years, kids will be saying CN sucks now and it was better when My Gym Partner's a Monkey and Camp Lazlo was on. That would still annoy me.

Cartoon Network is just a big mess now.

If its called Cartoon Network, why is it now 35% live shows?

Now I do enjoy Goosebumps but it doesn't belong here, there are also rumors of Big Bad Beetleborgs coming (which I am looking forward to despite the circumstances) and an adaptation of the Tokusatsu Kamen Rider Dragon Knight which I think should just go to another network.

Adult Swim is also pretty dumb too (except for Family Guy), Aqua Team Hunger Force is a waste of time (and I'm gonna break my Tv if Meatwad keeps on going "fiiiiive" for that stupid commercial) and the Boondocks just doesn't interest me.

As an anime fan, I don't mind their anime. One Piece is currently my favorite show and Naruto isn't bad (very overrated in my opinion though).

Cartoon Network, fortunatly, is still airing things of merit. They still air Scooby Doo classics (and not letting Whats Spew Scooby Doo? completely take over), Cartoon Cartoons, Ed Edd & Eddy (:D) and Tom & Jerry so its still, in essence, Cartoon Network.

I'd have to go with "Happy (Normal)" for now and then. As someone else mentioned, it's still the same old stuff, just the stuff is newer now, which makes sense, and the programming is still very limited, just like how it was when it first started. In the beginning, they were limited to HB cartoons.

That aside, as Megagents said, and I do agree with him, "I'm getting a little tired of complaining, we're all older now and we should just let kids have their fun."

We're no longer the target audience for the stuff CN shows...'cept for the Adult Swim stuff, but aside from Family Guy and Boondocks, I don't watch anything on it.

I do agree with you, it's just that people won't get that in their heads. They will still bitch about the network just because they don't play Cartoon Cartoons and other "classic" cartoons anymore.

Just accept the fact that you all probably just outgrew CN. Time to move on and let the new generation enjoy the shows on there now. I used to be like CN sucks now 10 years ago, but I have moved on with the rest of my age group.

I don't like it because they allow ANYTHING on their network, and I do mean anything. Like shows that are flash animated and live-action such as My Gym Partner is a Monkey, Squrrel Boy, Out of Jimmy's Head, and other shows that has the use of flash animation. It's just that they don't put in as much effort as they did in 10 years ago back when their shows weren't flash animated.

I guess we have to deal with that since the kids of today just love the new stuff and hate the old stuff.

I knew kids at my school who hated shows like The Flintstones and Looney Tunes. My kids love the old shows along with the new shows.

It sucks now it like they don't care anymore which is like most stations. The thing that I like about CN was it was original when it first came out in the 90's. Whatever happen to Super Chunk on Saturdays from 1pm-4pm or Toonami were the showed classics from 4-6pm. That's what I miss.

actually cartoon network is alot different from what it played in the 80s and 90s, it focused on cartoons only classic and new ones, but it was more older cartoons(most of us 90s kids wouldnt know about Bugs, Daffy or Speedy if it werent for cartoon network) now, what some people say and I do too, they sold out, they are trying to compete with Nick(like Microsoft to sony and nintendo) they focus on Kids now and even changed there image to playing live action stuff, so you cant really point the its not aimed at you thing, beacuase it was not aimed at one group before it was aimed at everyone,(seriously do you think kids would watch rocky and bullwinkle?) my grandpa used to watch that on cartoon network until they pulled it
