... and you would tilt the thing and it would make different LEDs come on depending on which way you spun it around, the goal was to get all three lights on in every corner if I remember. It made some PC-speaker-alike sounds too. I used to turn it on and just watch it because it would flash each of the LEDs in sequence after being powered on. looked like some kind of technicolor spaceship. There was a battery door on one side that was unbelievably difficult to remove, took AA or AAA batteries in some kind of cartridge if I remember.

I think I killed the one I had trying to open it when I was young and now I want another one.

the LED corners had clear plastic covers over them, but it was jet black otherwise.

What in the name of hell was this thing called (so I can get one from eBay)

Edit: I'm a "whipping boy"? that's kinky, but not here, thanks. :?

The one from the 1980s was Pyramid.
It is not a tilt activated game.

nah that's not it, the lights were just in the corners. the rest of the body of the thing was opaque.

I think it may have been from the late 80s, got the little bugger as a christmas present in the late 80s/ very early 1990s

I know exactly what you're talking about, my cousin had one. I can't remember what the hell it was called though. Now I'm going to go crazy thinking of this.

Well, I haven't been lucky so far, but I found this website, that shows many, many related items. Not many have LED's, however.

Hi. I have this. Last time I saw it was a couple of years ago in a back closet. My mom got it for me for Christmas between 1987 - 1990. Can't believe I still have it actually with all the moving I have done over the years. I'll look for it and get back about it. I also have Pyraminx around somewhere too, along with a desktop Donkey Kong, a Merlin and Master Merlin and Run Yourself Ragged desktop obstacle course game.
