Who here remembers Roger Troutman and Zapp?
I only remember looking them up on the Internet after I first got into file- and music-sharing. One song I always wanted to hear the entirety of was "Radio People".
I remember the scene from Ferris Bueller's Day Off where the three of them are driving home and Cameron freaks out over the mileage added on to that Ferrari replica. But the song you heard in the background was Zapp's "Radio People". Great song.

I like this group's music. "More Bounce To The Ounce" is one of the sexiest songs I've ever heard. Hey, what kind of bounce did you think they were singing about? I also like Roger's solo song "I Want To Be Your Man". I never thought that a vocoder could go well with a ballad. It's so heart-wrenching, but beautiful.

I wasn't sure if "I Wanna Be Your Man" was done by them. I remember catching part of a talk show on BET where the guy who did the vocoder tricks was on the show with what appeared to be a Minimoog.
Did he really use a vocoder or was it a Heil Talk Box? Are they different or the same thing? I know the guy from Zapp died some time ago.

I remember them big time. Lots of their music was played constantly on the R&B stations growing up in SF. His Peter Frampton voice noises got annoying after a while though! LOL

Better to hear the talkbox than that stupid Autotune. At least with the talkbox, you can do it live on stage.
I always bob my head when More Bounce to The Ounce comes on in Vice City.
