Okay, since I was a little kid and I first saw the first series of Pokemon on TV, I've been plagued by one question...

In the theme song, the camera goes past a Charizard, a Blastoise and a Venusaur. Pikachu then appears and runs past Ash, then through the legs of a girl in a green skirt and orange sweater. But WHO IS SHE? I've heard it said that it's Delia Ketchum (Ash's mother) but her hair is totally different! I've been trying to figure out who she is, all to no avail. Does anyone have any idea who she is?

I might have only been born in '92, but I'm still a nineties kid!

:!: Stuck in the nineties :!:

I wondered this for years too. In the Japanese version of the opening, however, it makes more sense. While Pikachu is running past the three pokemon, the lyrics of the song go something like, "I'll look for pokemon in marshes, mountains, forests, deserts (etc)." Then, the camera pans to the girl, and you find out that the last place Satoshi intends to look for pokemon is "this girl's skirt". Apparently, Satoshi is much more mature than his ten years imply.

(I don't have a link, but multiple people have posted subtitled versions of the intro on Youtube. Check it out if you don't believe me.)

Yeah; when Pikachu goes under her skirt in the Japanese opening, the girl screams. It's actually pretty funny. Very perverted and left-field, but funny. And this show is for kids. :P I wonder what all those little Japanese boys and girls thought when they saw it.

They were probably curious if there were real Pokemon underskirts of real women.
