This has really been bugging me so I hope that someone can help. I remember a movie from the '80s (I'm pretty sure about the time period) involving a group of people trying to steal a really special, incredible bicycle or motorbike/dirtbike from this kid. But for the life of me, I can't remember the name of the movie or who was in it. Does anybody here have any ideas ? If I remember correctly, the bike was a sort of dark red colour (but I could be mistaken) and had special "powers" like super jump, super speed, etc. I hope someone here can help !

The Dirtbike Kid? I knew it starred Peter Billingsly and Steward Pankin. All I remember that Peter was Given a Bike that a BMXer Did not want an Fixed it up then had a Life of it's own. Also A Banker(Pankin) wants to take over some land to Build a New Bank office. but the Land Also Houses a Hot Dog stand so There's no way the owner wants to give up the stand.

That's about all that I know.

It was The Dirt Bike Kid I remember HBO use to show it all the time in the half middle to late 80's.

I'm pretty sure that none of those are the movie I'm thinking of, but thanks anyways for trying to help. I guess I'll just have to keep searching and hope that I have it on tape somewhere.

Sounds like it might be the Dirtbike Kid. I still have that movie on tape someplace. It was such a goofy movie. lol

Edit: Never mind. I see it's already been mentioned.

I would swear that it is The Dirt Bike Kid- the bike would like take off on it's own and only responded to this certain kid. The bike was white and red.
The only other movie I can think of is the legend of billy jean-it is centered around a red scooter but I don't think that is it.

Could it be "Quicksilver" (1985) with Kevin Bacon? Although I've never been much into movies, that's the only "bicycle" movie from the 1980s I can think of.
