It's no secret that the television industry was built with tobacco company money. Cigarettes are the cash cow. Until 1971 cigarettes were Everywhere on TV. A senator once asked "what's next, cigarette ads on Saturday morning kids shows?".

Why am I posting this? I wanted to show the intro to "The Farmer's Daughter" the 1963 ABC sitcom starring Inger Stevens and William Windom. But the sponsor's pitch is interlaced and to edit it out messes it up. Hanna-Barbera got it right when the "Flintstones" went to syndication - just re-do the intro and closing to take the cigarette ads out.
