if you need to look for an aerial view of your school, try going to historic aerials.com, they've got aerials views as old as the 30s.
The elementary school I went to was the first in the district after they moved from the school house type building. It was built sometime around 1950. It was really old looking when I went there in the early to mid 80s. As far as I could tell the school originally didn't even have A/C just heat as the old heaters were in the classroom, but were no longer used. They moved to a new building in the mid 90s, but used the old building for a alternative high school. Anyway I was checking out my old neighborhood on google maps and just noticed they tore it down. It must have happened sometime in the last three years. As you can see other than part of the drivway you can't even tell there was a school there. Even though I hated going there it still kind of sad that everything I remember about that place in gone.
The line on the left was where the teacher parking and bus ramp were. The two remaining parts of the driveway was the dropoff and pickup in the front of the school.
Here is what the front looked like when I went there. This was scanned from the cover of one of my class pictures.
So your school was torn down. Big whoop.

kinda sucks they ripped it out. we still have schools in socal build from the 40s in service today still. I remember one had this really neat architecture and sculpture mural over the entry of the grounds. You just don't get that today with new schools, they just slap em together.

The same thing happened to my middle school almost four years ago. The building had been there since the mid-20s and after 80+ years they thought it would be a good idea to finally tear it down and build something new. They tore it down and built a new school on top of where it used to be. Its kind of surreal to look at old pictures of me at the school with my sister and my friends with all the memories I had in that building. It no longer exists...

I like the old building better. I bet it was made better too. A better solution would have been to renovate the inside and to add a wing on if needed.

I agree with you about the renovation idea but more than anything I'm surprised it wasn't torn down sooner. It was 80 years old...either that or I'm surprised they didn't just keep it up. It was a sad day indeed when they chained it up for the last time. I wish I had one of the bricks.
