Please note the spelling. This is the old J5 cartoon.

"The Jackson 5ive" was a Saturday morning cartoon series produced by Rankin/Bass in cooperation with Motown Productions. It aired on ABC from 1971 until 1973.

Although not one of my favorites, I was glad to see Rankin/Bass do a Saturday morning series at a time when everything seemed to be H-B or Filmation on American television.

It's surprising it lasted that long. Hell, the New Kids on the Block cartoon only lasted like a season and a half...

    Oh-oh-o-o-oh!

As I recall, it was really one season of toons repeated over and over. When I found out that the J5 had no direct involvement with the production, only their recorded music, I stopped watching.

I must say I still find R/B animation a joy to watch eventhough it's just as repetitive as Filmation at times. Did you say "New Kids on the Block cartoon"?
      Hey, its "news" to me!

They had their own cartoon? Holy crap. And it lasted a while? Holy crapper.

Michael Jackson in a cartoon... sounds interesting enough.

Didn't look a thing like Michael at all. Good job Rankin/Bass, LOL!

I recall seeing one episode on TV Land, "Michael in Wonderland".
"Make new friends, but keep the old... one is silver, and the other gold.
A circle's round, it has no end... that's how long I want to be your friend.

I used to like watching reruns of the J5 cartoon, but I honestly liked it for the songs. If it hadn't been for that show, I never would've fallen in love with the song Reach In. Prior to that episode (I think the car was messed up or something), I'd never heard that one. I don't even remember where I watched the cartoon or what station.

That image, is that from the ep when Michael had to get his tonsils out or something?

Imagine Michael Jackson cartoon today, I wonder how people would react to that, but that'll never happen.
