My first R-Rated movie was Akira. Great movie, by the way.

That would have to be Robocop 2. But recently my heart was won over by Patlabor live action TV (2014). Patlabor takes the literal police officers within a (gigantic) machine to a whole new level. The unique thing is that Patlabor's wrist can extend beyond to fetch the gigantic gun in its leg compartment. Robocop's hand can't. It's fixed to his forearm. That was one of the coolest things about Patlabor.

IMHO the fight between Patlabor and cloaked stealth heli has got to be cooler than the fight between Robocop and Robo-Cain drug lord in Robocop 2:

Hmm. This is going to be a tough one. I remember certain things from my childhood, but not everything.

I think my first R-rated flick was Friday the 13th. I'm not completely sure, though.

I'm amazed of the uncanny ability of some here to remember such details.

the first time i saw friday the 13th i was in college, and we did a marathon. i had NO idea that he'd jump out of the water at the end. what an awesome way to close the film. not sure how i'd NOT seen that up to that point in my life.

Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm I don't remember. I do know that I was going to the theater constantly all throughout high school. Which I started in 1994. Pulp Fiction came out in October that year. So if it's not that, it's probably pretty close.

I saw plenty of R movies on TV growing up, but we didn't have cable, so they were censored.

Oh wait. No. I was going to say The Toxic Avenger, when I was 12 or 13. But I didn't actually watch it. We rented it and put it on the only TV in the house. My mom wouldn't shut up about how we shouldn't be watching it, so we turned it off after like 15 minutes.

Stand By Me, watched it at a friend's house when I was 7 or 8. Totally had nightmares about the scene where they find Ray Brower dead in the bushes.
