This has been driving me nuts for a while now, I can't find a clip of this old TV commercial, I think it's from the 80's but in starts out with a husband and wife at the kitchen table having a discussion about the cost of school supplies that the wife is having to buy for her classroom, she explains how important it is that she continue to do so. the next scene shows her at the store buying school supplies, she looks up and sees her husband a few checkouts down also buying a whole pile of school supplies, he looks up and she mouths the words "thank you" to him. I think it was a commercial where some store was promoting the matching of funds for school supplies or something like that. I know this is a rather obscure request but it's really one of my all-time favorite TV commercials and I'd like to see it again. Thanks for anything you can do.

Wow wildbill24, I can't quite remember the ad except the ending where she see's her husband, one checkstand over, and she mouths the words "thank you" - that's all I remember.

But what was the store? Was it Walmart, or Target, or Office Depot?

Until someone else posts the correct information, here's an interesting link to station WALA-TV - FOX10 News from Mobile, Alabama/Florida Panhandle area.

An old trick that always comes in handy is to take a backpack and load it up with school supplies but use a solar-powered calculator to add up the total as you shop, even if you're not going to buy the calculator. Use it then put it back after you're done with it.

I can't remember what store it was for, but you ar4e remembering the right one. I seem to remember that the man who played the husband also went on to play roles as a bad guy in many tv shows.

Thought I'd dig this one up one more time to see if it jogs anyone's memory on this commercial.

I remember this one commercial by either Office Max or Office Depot advertising school supplies for "Back-to-School", where a mother and her kids (all with 'long" faces) are at the store shopping for school supplies, and then when they get to their car, the mother puts the bag of supplies on the roof of the car to get her keys out to unlock the car and forgets to take them off the roof when she and the kids get into the car. As they are on their way home the kids in the back seat start laughing (at their school supplies flying off the roof of the car) and the mother, not knowing about the supplies left on the roof, is like "See? I told you school is going to be exciting!", thinking her kids are laughing because they are excited about going back to school!

I vaguely recall this commercial. I believe it was an ad by Staples.
