Does anyone here remember the black equivalent of American Bandstand called Soul Train?

The series, which ran on TV from 1971 to 2006, was hosted by Don Cornelius until 1993. However, the show brought in some white performers, such as Elton John and David Bowie. Both guests had their #1 hits: John (dressed as an Irish leprechaun) performing "Bennie and the Jets" in 1974, and Bowie performing "Fame" in 1975.

One of the commercial break bumpers featured some voiceover giving a long-drawn hoot on the word "Soul" to make it sound like a train horn.
