This movie has been considered the most controversial movie in recent memory, is it true that it's as vile as it's reputation suggests and up there with such sick shockers like Men Behind The Sun, Salo, Caligula, In a Glass Cage, The Untold Story, Guiena Pig, Singapore Sling, Irreversible, Nightmare (1981) etc.?

Caligula wasn't that bad either.
caligula in it's uncut version made me sick when i saw it at 17 with it's imagery especially when Caligula was fist raping a guy to even the gore.
OMG, after all the things i have now read in reviews including fucked up horrible things like a newborn baby being raped to a skull literally being boned, i'm skipping this trash. Anyone who is willing to sit through a movie where it has a scene where a newborn baby gets raped is fucked up in the head as far as i'm concerned.
At least Hostel 1 & 2 have entertainment value while this doesn't.

I've passed on Serbian Film as well, but Singapore Sling was really not bad at all, neither was Men Behind the Sun nor the 1st and 2nd Guinea Pigs, I never bothered with the next 2.

Have you seen the films i mentioned?
A lot of those are out of print. And I'm not paying to see them. But Caligula was tame. I've rented the uncut version a few times. Bob Guccione pissed off the cast and crew after he added in the porn scenes. They really weren't needed. But it did reflect Rome of the time. Other than that, it was a decent film. It showed the insanity that Caligula went through perfectly.
