Shocking and interesting Italian made cult surival horror adventure from Ruggero Deoato that plays as a prequel to his own "Cannibal Holocaust"! it's supposedly based on a true case that happened in the Philipino jungles where an American explorer was lost until he was captured by a cannibalistic tribe and a beautiful native girl frees him as they both must escape the island.
It's gory as hell and a little disturbing especially the scenes of actual animals getting killed like an alligator getting sliced from skull to groin as you see being split open while's it's alive and it's heart still beating and some messed up stuff like a woman who throws her unwanted unborn child to an alligator in a river. The peformances aren't too bad, while it's not as horrifying as "Cannibal Holocaust" it's still worth a view for fans of the horror genre.

I'm exploring all of these old titles right now. It's nice to see that these lost films are getting the digital treatment. I see this one is available in the Jungle Horrors Triple Feature!
