I'm sure everyone has heard about this by now, but I'm surprised there were no discussions about it going on here, as it has become a pretty big story.

For those who haven't heard about it or haven't been following it - A homeless man with a really distinctive voice (the kind of voice that is perfect for radio broadcasts and television commercial voice overs) was recently panhandling near a freeway exit ramp when someone pulled up and asked him to give a demonstration of his voice (he was holding a cardboard sign that said he had a God-given gift of a great voice and was an ex-radio broadcaster). The guy in the car came back the next day and recorded a video of him, and put it up on the internet. The video went viral...and now the homeless man (named Ted Williams) is getting job offers with six-figure salaries left and right and is appearing on numerous talk shows. I have been following this story for a couple of days now, and it really is quite amazing. Here is the original video of him that went viral:

I remember I caught this last week on the news. I never heard his voice until now and all I got to say is what a voice! And he finally reunited with his mother after twenty years.

I've been hearing about this on the Today Show recently. He sounds amazing with that voice of his.

I'm sick of hearing about this. Talk about non-news.

I kind of feel the same.

He's created this his situation himself be getting into drugs and alcohol.

Still I'm glad he's streightening himself out.

I've heard about it in a news headline a couple days ago. That sounds like very interesting stuff.

I watched those 2 videos from Drinkingwithbob. I think he's being too harsh on the guy. The man has openly admitted to all the wrong things he's done in the past, and really does seem like he wants to change his ways. I think the guy deserves a second chance at life. Only time will tell if he stays clean or goes back to his old life of drug abuse.

Meh, semi interesting story. He did have a good voice but it's not like some jaw dropping talent.

This guy has a long history of crime and addiction. He acually worked in radio years ago and screwed it up with drugs. Hopefully he will not let everyone down this time.

If this guy was like some major radio tycoon back in the day and fell out of the lime light sudden and mysteriously, yeah this would have been sensational. But I think people are just getting caught up in the romance of the story.

I'm almost certain all those job offers he's getting are because of all the media attention and buzz, and not really about his talents.

You just think your voice is better but are bitter because you work the counter at the falafel inn.

This is all over the news and I thought it was sensational at first until I heard the backstory. I think it's great he got his life back on track but I don't feel sorry for him being homeless or being a junkie because he caused it all on himself! This guy sired between 7-9 kids he hasn't paid any child support for and walked on his wife. Then he started or continued doing drugs and ended up on the streets...all while have a "Golden Voice" that could've easily gotten him into TV and radio which others would have to struggle to do.

So again, why is America falling so hard for someone who willingly ruined their life?

Yeah, I saw this, it's a great story of redemption. It's so sad that he got to that state before someone finally helped him out. Hopefully he will write a memoir about his experiences.

He might after his stint in rehab:

                                  http://latimesblogs.latimes.com/gossip/2011/01/ted-williams-rehab-dr-phil-homeless-man-still-drinking.html

And before you vultures pounce, he's going voluntarily. He's aware he still has problems so he decided on Dr. Phil that he'd be going back. Sooo this story might die down for a bit.

That is until the next season of Celebrity Rehab debuts

Still don't care. But I do find it amusing that no one calls him by name. He's The Homeless Man With The Golden Voice.

Dr. Phil is such a joke. He didn't know this man till like 5 minutes ago and all of a sudden he acts like it's his divine calling to get Ted on the right track.

That will probably be the name of the inevitable Hollywood movie.
