Now, as a lot of us know, the 80's and early 90's WERE just better times to be a kid. The media was above and beyond, imagination was out of this world. We got the best cartoons, some of the greatest movies ever, the commercials were crazy, colorful, creative and fun, the toys were fantastic, the music was amazing and just i adored the daring and colorful fasion trends. If I had a time machine you bet your buns I'd go back without question! ;p
Maybe I've got mad nostalgia for the era, but I'm not clouded by it.
And I know this may sound immature but here's a fine example of someone forcing their little opinion down your throat about that era.
Nah, I'm pretty sure this is just the opinion of someone remembering only the good parts of that decade. The Soviet Union was still in full effect, Ronald Reagan was president, and a fuck ton of people were doing cocaine. Oh wait, that's not allowed to be mention when someone goes on a misty eyed, "The Way We Were" rant about how great the 80s were.
I'd rather have grown up in the 90s than the 80s anyways. Better video games (seriously, debate this with me), Nickelodeon's peak, wrestling was better and became more mainstream than it had ever been after one of the lowest points in its history (all in the same decade), the Fresh Prince of Bel Air, and George Strait starring in the greatest movie ever made, Pure Country.
Forrest Griffin said it best in his book, "When something is distant or far away, it seems better to people because it's not right there with them. It's like with Pride (MMA organization), since it was in Japan, everyone thought it was great. Then the fighters came over here and none of them have done well."
Since the 80s are a distant decade, the above applies. People will try to remember it as an awesome time to be alive, but really, it was pretty fucked up.
