I ordered the Yamaha EZ-200 lighted keyboard and it will be here on Monday.

I have never played any musical instrument and decided I will teach myself how play the keyboard. I have already watched some youtube videos to learn some of the basics. I want to learn to play by ear and read sheet music, not just learn to play certain songs. Anyone know how to play the piano/keyboard or have any advice on teaching myself?

I actually made a thread like this awhile back. I really want to do this myself. I have a little one at home I learned the Axel Foley theme on. A lighted one seems ideal for learning. There are some great free tutorial sites out there. I'll check my pc later to see if I can find the sites I was using.

I wanted a keyboard since I was a kid, but I know back then I didn't have the discipline to learn it. Plus the decent ones were pretty pricy then.

The fact that this one has the lighted keys to help you learn really will help I think. Plus all the neat little features will be fun to play with.

I have like zero music skills so this should be fun. :)

I have a keyboard of my own, but I don't really know how to play it. I'm not a music expert. :(

My sister started off on a keyboard and then went on to play the piano.

Don't get discouraged, and you'd be surprised how many people are willing to tutor for free.

I took keyboard classes in 9th grade. I cant play it because I cant use both my hands to play the keys at once.
I learned how to read the sheet music for beginners that was fairly simple.
Good luck, they're fun to play as long as your better than me lol.
