I updated my Firefox browser to 6.0 the other day and now I'm having a problem.

I use avast as my antivirus software and I found out that it's incompatible with my updated Firefox. What do I do?

i've never come across this problem before since i've had symantec on my laptop, but maybe if you uninstall and reinstall firefox then it'll work? you could probably go into the firefox official website and search for an add-on that makes it compatible to use with the browser. just remember not to have too many add-ons turned on or the browser may become unstable. i had to uninstall and reinstall firefox to get it working again because of that. see if there's a certain virus add-on software

I just updated mine and it said during the installation that AVG antivirus was not compatable with 6 as well. Check their website to see if they have an update yet. We may just have to wait until they do an update.

This is why I stopped using FireFox- too many problems with anti-virus software and web coding. They update things too often but the really important stuff takes forever to get fixed. I have Google Chrome with my new laptop and I like it better so far.

Haha wow! I was just stressing about this too. Although the only thing I think that isn't compatible is the avast add on, which only rates sites. I think the actual antivirus still works. Not sure though.

I use IE most of the time, but use Firefox for videos because I have an add-on that blocks the commericals and ads.

For the time being, I'm using MSN Explorer. I just don't understand why my avast WebRep plugin on Firefox has been disabled.

This is why I let a couple of weeks/months before updating. Most features are still in Beta even though they don't tell you.

I suggest leaving a reasonable time span to see other people's problem and FF dealing with bugs and stuff.

You know what I don't get. Why is it that Mozilla releases Firefox 4 just three years after Firefox 3... yet, this year, they released Firefox 4, 5, and now 6?

Hell, Firefox 5 hasn't even been out for three months. Why are they releasing version 6 so soon?

I'm using FF 4 and don't have a problem. I like to update little by little untill reaching the next one... or at least when getting near the round number version.

When you update all of a sudden from one or two old version to the most recent/latest most likely you will have some problems. Especially plug-ins/extensions/anti-viruses.

In other words, you use it for porn. :P

I still use IE, I mean the newer versions aren't terrible, but I like not having to switch. I have all my bookmarks and temp history in one place, and GC is more customizable. Hate that you have to log into your account just to use the features, though.
