The Beatles were the first rock band I seriously got into as a kid. I saw The Sgt. Peppers movie on tv(yes, the one starring the Bee-Gees) and loved the music. My dad then broke out his collection of Beatles vinyl. Greatest rock band ever.

I wonder if the beatles came out today if they would get pushed to the side as just another boy band?

Music today would be totally different without the Beatles. They changed the face of modern pop culture, I'm convinced.

Mav, when you say you have all the records on vinyl, are you talking about the British LPs or the American ones or both? I have a bunch of them on vinyl, but not a complete collection. It's a mix of the pre-Sgt. Pepper's American albums and only the White Album for post-Pepper vinyl. I've got all the 'canonical' albums on CD, naturally. That is, the ones that were remastered in the 80s. I've read more books on the Beatles than on any other topic, perhaps. Sadly, my interest is not very well nourished these days... too many things competing for attention! (Work, school, woman, family, etc.)

And if your answer is that you really do own every single record on vinyl... do you have the infamous bloody doll album cover version of Yesterday & Today?

i own all the british LP's on vinyl but only a few of the american ones.
no i dont own the bloody doll cover. if i did i most certainly would not be sitting here in my dorm room talking about TV long past. i would be hanging out with paul mccartney playing the ukulele with all the money i earned from selling the cover. (sry for that long answer BTW  )

There are some rattier covers floating around for the $100 dollar range, but I just thought I'd check! My copy of Yesterday and Today has no butchering depicted, regrettably.

I'm not much of a collector, but I love the Beatles, it's true.

The Beatles are fantasic. one of the few pre-80's groups i really like. i only have 3 albums: Let It Be... Naked and Abbey Road on CD and Live At The BBC on cassette. i have 1962-1968 on cassette somewhere i think, it's pretty old so the quality isn't very good though.

I love them of course and am half way through the book "A Hard Day's Write" which is a book that discusses every Beatles song ever made.

Did you know that in the UK The Beatles are gonna be on the back of all 20 pound notes  (20 dollar bills, to those in America.)
This REALLY is true, it was said it was going to be around 2008 or so.
They really were awesome, I'm doing a beatles web project at school, not that ia really matters...

                                    My Beatles vinyl collection:

Beatlemania with the Beatles (Canadian Capitol release of With the Beatles, Mono)

Rubber Soul (1969 Green label Capitol Record Club issue)

Abbey Road (original 1969 Apple pressing, I found it at a Value Village for two dollars)

Let it be b/w You Know My Name Look Up the Number

                                    '62 - '66 (original 1973 Apple pressing, mint)

                                    '67 - '70 (original 1973 Apple pressing, mint)

                                    Live at the Hollywood Bowl

Rock and Roll Music (original 1976 silver foil cover w/ gatefold)

On my wishlist are good condition copies of Revolver in mono, Magical Mystery Tour with the booklet and The White Album with the poster (original Apple pressing pref.)

I just read on a Beatles message board that new cd reissues of the UK Beatles albums are planned for next year, remastered and with new booklets and liner notes so the crummy 80's cd versions will finally be retired.

Thanks, I inherited the Beatlemania with the Beatles album from my dad. My mom had a few Beatles albums but they aren't worth anything, the records are scratched to bejesus and the covers have grafiti all over them (I Wuv Paul ect. ect.) so I don't count those.
