I work every day except Monday next week including Christmas Eve from 8am-5pm. I'm off Christmas and the day after. I miss Christmas break so much!

I want to try and leave early on Christmas Eve, say I don't feel well or something. Because if I call in sick the day before or the day after a holiday, I don't get my holiday pay. So this way, I beat the system by punching in, then punching out after about 4 hours.

On Christmas Eve we are open till I think 7 pm, but closed Christmas day. Sales are generally awesome the day after Christmas till whenever the kids go back to school since people buy new TV's. We have mandatory O/T that week. Hopefully they market in some good zip codes and not these broke ass areas they have been.

Am I the only one that finds Christmas Eve to be a happier day than Christmas day? At least there are things to do on Christmas Eve. Christmas day is boring because almost everything is closed. This year we're doing our Christmas on the 25th instead of the night of the 24th.

Fortunately I got it off this year! I've worked it a few times in recent years though... As you can imagine not too many people are buying insurance on Christmas eve, but the company tries to make every last cent that they can...

Yeah, Even as a kid i've always felt that way. We always opened a present on the eve but did the rest the morning of the 25th, but still, after the presents were done we never went and did anything so it was always borning, because as you said, there was nothing open. I didn't realize until I was an adult that movie theatres tend to be open CONSTANTLY, but we've never been to one on a holiday.

As for working, at our grocery store it was closed Christmas day so didn't have to worry about that, but I normally tended to work until about 6 Christmas eve and then unfortunatly from like 1-10 on the fourth of July.

I lucked out- this will be my first Christmas without winter vacation, but the 24th and 25th fall on a Saturday and Sunday (as does New Year's), so we'll be able to leave nice and early for our families' houses. But I have to go to work on the 26th. I'll be the only one there all week. Big project to finish before the new quarter starts.

I think it sucks if you have to work Christmas Eve or any other holiday, if you happen to celebrate those days. This being the exception of retail, which you know is expected because of sales and non emergency jobs like firemen, police, hospitals etc. When office type jobs such as mine, are trying to work you to death instead of letting you have time off to enjoy Christmas it's ridiculous!

Same here, Christmas Eve is the most exciting day for me as it's the highest point of anticipation plus we have a party on that night. We also open one present on Christmas Eve and then the rest early Christmas morning.

Xmas eve I lucked out and only work 4-9pm, 1st year ever I didn't finish after midnight in my 10 year tenure. Xmas I am off, but I work New Years eve, a decent 4-8pm, since last year I worked 6-4am. But of course they have me working New years day, 11-9pm.

I was able to get Christmas Eve off. It fell on a day when I would normally work, but I managed to get the day off. My brother has to work Christmas Eve, though hopefully he'll be back in time for us to visit my aunt for a while.

I have to, but I don't mind. Besides I don't work too long each day.

I only work until 3 pm on Christmas Eve. Normally I don't get off until 8 pm. Thankfully Harris Teeter is closed on Christmas Day.
