I feel fine about gas prices, because they have actually stayed relatively steady over the years. Yes, they've gone up, but so has inflation.
In 1950, gas was $0.27 a gallon. Adjusted for inflation, that comes out to $2.10 in today's money. In 1980 it was $1.13 a gallon, which after inflation adjustment is $2.68
The gas price on the hill today where I live is $2.11 for regular gasoline.
The price of gas has not gone up by an appreciable amount (although it did spike there for a few months), it has remained fairly constant, given inflation.
