What do our dreams mean? Do they have any meaning? It makes me wonder sometimes and it's interesting to think about.

Sometimes we have those dreams where nothing makes sense, nothing flows together [First your riding a bike, next thing you know your in a boat under the water, then your having a conversation with a gorilla]. I think that's just when we're deep in our sleep and our mind is just wandering all over the place.

Sometimes we have those normal dreams about school, work, sports or activities that we're involved in where everything or almost everything makes sense and does flow together, we have normal human conversations, we do normal things that we would really do in those realistic situations. I think this is when we're kind of having trouble sleeping, when maybe we can't really stay asleep and our mind keeps thinking straight about normal stuff, things we did or really do.

Sometimes we have those freaky dreams that are realistic, but we're not really sure what they mean. Maybe there is people we don't know in them, things we've never seen, stuff we see over and over again that we don't really think of when we're awake but are realistic things. These dreams usually flow and everything or almost everything seems realistic. Do these dreams mean anything?

A few examples of these freaky/realistic dreams:

My grandpa was talking to me about a dream that one of his best friends/neighbor had. This is the dream his friend had a few years ago: My grandpa's friend went to go play the lottery in his dream and was going to play this number, then this guy in his dream came over to him, this guy had no face, his face just had a smudge over it so you couldn't tell what he looked like. He told my grandpa's friend that's not the number you want to play, and gave him a different number and told him this is the number you want to play.

So then when my grandpa's friend woke up, he remember the dream and decided to write down the number that the guy in his dream told him, that day in real life he played that number and he won. He won about $500. [Pretty cool/freaky]

Another similar one is a dream that my uncle told me about that happened to his uncle. The dream was very similar to the one above. He kept seeing this number in his dream, the same number over and over. He didn't know why, but when he woke up he decided to play the lottery too and played the number he kept seeing in his dream. Turns out that the number came out straight and he won too.

Do these dreams really have meaning? Is someone or something trying to tell us something or hint us to something. Maybe there is someone that controls our dreams or at least some of them, maybe there is another dimension, maybe it's just plain luck or coincidence. I don't know. I just thought this was interesting, something you might wanna think about.

So next time you have a good dream, something that stood out or something that you remembered. Write it down somewhere, maybe it really does mean something, maybe this dreamguy will give you the winning lottery number too. You never know. So write it down while you remember it, because in a few minutes you might forget about everything that you dreamt about.

I thought this seemed very interesting/cool/freaky. If you would like to, let me know your thoughts about it. Thanks for reading.

Dreams are from your subconscious which means :existing or operating in the mind beneath or beyond consciousness, imperfectly or not wholly conscious, the totality of mental processes of which the individual is not aware;.Dreams show how much control you have over your mind when you are sleep.

I do not think dreams are paranormal whatsoever; so like in the case of the guy your grandpa knew: that was purely a coincidence, in my opinion.

That said, I find dreams fascinating. I've always thought that lucid dreaming would be awesome. I've never been able to do it, though.

whenever i have the same dream multiple times night after night after night it usually means it's going to happen to me. [or something similar.] it's creepy because i had this dream that i was going to fail algebra like night after night and the next week we got progress reports and I had an E in algebra. I was like woah. And the same thing happened with a dream where my uncle was going to pass away and i hated that dream so much, and sadly; the dream came true after two weeks of that dream night after night.:( so in my opinion, i think that dreams do try to tell you something.

Cold check it. I had this dream I was fighting a huge purple octopus, who used hell of profanity. I'd really be interested to find out what that means.

this actually happened to my cousin...
He fell asleep of course and had a dream he was talking to his brother (his brother's married and has 2 girls, and he wants a boy) and his dad at the table (his dad recently died a few years back) then he got up to get a drink as soon as he turned around his brother was holding a baby and his dad wasn't anywhere to be found, he asked his brother what he was holding and he said it was a baby boy...he woke up and the next day his brother announced that his wife was pregnant with a boy!!

I've had dreams come true a couple of times.

One time I dreamed about a friend that I hadn't seen in a long time, like, over a year. In the dream, I found her journal on the internet and then we met again. About a week after I had that dream, she called me.

Recently I had a dream that my boyfriend and I were kissing in the snow. I hadn't seen any weather reports or anything like that prior to the dream. This was right before I was getting ready to move in with him. Shortly after I moved in, it snowed. I dunno, it's hard to explain, but at the time it felt like something was telling me that here with him was the right place to be.

I remember having a dream a few years ago that was wierd. I had this dream often like say every other night for about week and half and it was always I was driving a car somewhere, but never the same place and as soon as I tried to stop the car would carry on momentum and fail to stop and I would always wake up before getting to the end.

The following week, I was travelling in the car and had to stop at a junction and the brakes failed which I found after was a snapped brake pip, but lucky for me the car had a dual circuit braking system where limited braking would remain and unlike my dream I stopped the car before I ran over the junction and into on coming traffic. That was freaky.

Not to be a perv or anything but, I've had a wet dream and it was really bizarre. I thought only girls had those.

Most of my dreams are just odd, surreal, masterpieces with things just happening on a whim, and I get to fly around in most of them. I've never taken them as meaning anything in my waking life and I highly doubt dreams have any meaning in the waking world.

Well, I don't know if they really have a meaning, but the real thing is that dreams, sometimes, gives me a warning about some things.
In fact, there's a book (in spanish, I really don't know if you can get it in english), named "Los sueños", his author is Morfeo. It gives you all the different meanings of all kinds of dreams you can have: From letter A to Z... I believe in this kind of stuff, but I don't take it serious.

I have the book, so, if some of you are interest about the meaning of dreams, I'm going to post some of them in another post......

Here's some meanings of the most common dreams:

                        Dream with money:

If you dream that someone is giving you money, that means you need to be more carefull with your health

If you are giving money to someone, that means some economic problems in your life are going to be solved soon

                        teeth:

That means you're a very independent person

                        Earthquake:

Some problems in your life are going to be solved very soon

                        Explotion:

Your life is going to have a very dramatic change

                        Funeral:

you are going to live a confrontation with pain, or some cicle in your life is going to end

                        twins:

                        Personal problems with your identity

                        Roses:

There's some things that are working very well for you

if you are killing a person in your dreams:

That means you need to believe more in yourself

well....I hope this may help a little

You know how you have to defragment your hard drive every now and again? The way I've heard it described is that dreams are Mother Nature's way of defragmenting your brain. That's why nothing ever makes sense in your dreams; they're all just bits and fragments of memories and other gobbledy-gook your brain is reorganizing and compressing.

What I find freaky is when I try to read something and every written word looks like gibberish. I'll also sometimes hear a song, and when I wake up I realize it's not just one song, but two or three different ones smooshed together.
"Preserving the old ways from being abused,
Protecting the new ways for me and for you.

Anyone interested in dreams, watch "Waking Life". Its one of my favorite movies, ever, ever. Its got dreams and philosophy all mixed up together. Anyone who considers themselves interested in the world is sure to love it.

I, myself, battle back and forth over the importance of dreams. Sometimes, its just neurons regurgitating what you've fed them. Other times, the subconcious seems to put together little clips of your past experiences into something new and original... and that is really cool. I like to think of dreams as your mind letting go of the clutch and burnin' rubber all over town. I feel grateful to have them.

ummm... yeah... most teenage guys do.. in fact, I think it's funny you said you thought only girls get those because I thought only guys get those. I used to get them all the time when I was a teenager, but I quit getting them when I discovered the art of masterbation.
