I just got introduced to this band from Japan. The best I can describe them is an amped up version of Devo that do their versions of covers. Their videos are very cool. They did a cover of Mr.Roboto with a Sentai robot going out of control and attacking the citizens of Japan. Any video that has a Sentai robot attacking kids on a playground is okay by me. ;)

Hey, I noticed you are in Chicago. I used to live there and I saw these guys live on the "Japan Nite" tour many years ago at the old Fireside Bowl. Anyways, they are awesome because they're so high energy. The frontman is a maniac.

Anyway, look for the Electric Surfin' Go Go video. Highly recommended.

Very cool. I'm always on the look out for new Japanese music. Modern mainstream North American/European music just bores the crap outta me and makes me ice pick stabby. Now I'll go into my "must hear everything by them" mode. Hurray for OCD!

I've never heard that. I just heard they stopped doing shows because they wanted to focus on the bowling. Seemed weird, but they pretty much only did all ages punk shows and small local acts. Probably didn't bring in that much money. Also in those days, they had an odd enclosed bar room separated from the alley/venue space.

Sounds like the now long closed Off the Alley club in Homewood, IL. It was a part of Record Swap. I saw the local ska band Skapone there a few times. Off the Alley became a goth kid hang out later on.

I'd love to see Peelander-Z in concert though. I've actually met a few of the Kaiju Big Battel wrestlers that were in their videos. Very amusing stuff.
