Don't eat any foods containing even a trace of trans fat.

Do you know what trans fat actually is?

Do you know how to make sure there is none in what you eat?

There are four kinds of fat monosaturated, polyunsaturated, saturated and the worst trans fat or hydrogenated. Mono and Polyun saturated are the good fats and saturated and trans are the bad fats. Saturated fats aren't that bad though, you need some in a good healthy diet but don't go overboard. Trans fat is the absolute worst, having any even less than one gram is terrible.

Partially Hydrogenated oils may be in the ingredients and that contains trans fat. Even if you see 0 grams of trans fat on the label, check the ingredients to see if there is partially or fully hydrogenated, and if there is, it is no good.

For more info about Trans fat visit www.BanTransFat.com

Trans Fats can cause Heart Disease and Stroke, so if you keep the trans fats to an absolute low you will live a longer and healthier life.

The Media, Government, Food Companies, Restaurants and pretty much everyone has ignored this and neglected to let us know how harmful these oils [that not that many people know about] are to our body.

Why? Because of Greed and Money. They don't care about us or what happens to us. They just care about our money, as long as it's going into their pockets.

0g Trans fat does NOT mean no trans fat, it usually just means it's less than 1g [so check the label and make sure there is no hydrogenated oil]

Look at the ingredients on everything now before you buy it or eat it and look to see if you find that it says PARTIALLY HYDROGENATED OILS or just HYDROGENATED OILS anywhere in it. If it does, put it back down. Try as best as you can to never buy or eat something with these deadly oils in them again. It can actually kill you, it's pretty much just like poisoning yourself, it's probably the worst thing your body can have, even the tiniest trace.

What are hydrogenated oils? They are just in pretty much everything nowadays, but for what? The reason why is the dumbest thing ever: It's just in there to keep stuff fresher for longer. That's all it's for. But it kills us. It doesn't make it taste better or worse or anything. It's one of the worst things for our bodies.

Whenever your going to a restaurant or fast food place or anywhere to eat out, check online first to see if you find out if they use hydrogenated oils or have trans fats in their menu. Or if you can't find out or if you're not at the right place, just ask someone that works there if they use hyrogenated oils or if they have trans fats, don't be afraid to ask [it could save your life or be the difference between living a few more years.] And if they don't know, which they're should be no reason they shouldn't because they make it there, I wouldn't eat there. Never eat or buy anything if you are not sure. I'm telling you this just to help you be aware of these deadly oils. Pass it on to the people you care about too, don't be afraid, if you keep hydrogenated oils out of your diet, you will live a much healthier, longer and better life, guaranteed.

"Research studies show conclusively these deadly oils cause non-insulin dependent type II diabetes, or hyperinsulinemia. This is a disease which can eventually burn out the pancreas and cause insulin dependent diabetes. These changed molecular oils dramatically increase the risk of coronary heart disease, breast cancer, other types of cancers and auto immune diseases. Over 100 research studies show how harmful these oils are to the human body. However, these findings have been largely ignored by the mass media and the FDA. In addition, the Commercial Edible Food Industry has suppressed these research findings for sometime. Why? Money and lots of it! Food processing companies and the companies that own the patents on this process would lose billions of dollars if they had to change their method of food production of hydrogenating oils. The main reason oils are hydrogenated is that the hydrogenation of the oils act as a preservative. This leads to increased shelf life of products and less returns or spoilage of products. But at what cost is it to the human body?" -David Lawrence Dewey

ok this isn't new news, hence why there are alot of foods being sold that say no trans fats or hydrogenated oils etc if you didn't know this then your probably not to healthy when it comes to making choices in foods.

OK... I know these things are bad for me, but you don't need to go all "WNYW Sensationalist" on us. They have been publicizing for the last year or so that they have been taking trans fats out of foods. I believe the first major snack food brand to do this was Goldfish, in 2004.

Not trying to be mean, but there is a fair chance this thread will be closed.

You are right, Rainbow Bright. This is not new at all.

"The Media, Government, Food Companies, Restaurants and pretty much everyone has ignored this and neglected to let us know how harmful these oils [that not that many people know about] are to our body."

Uh, foods are required now to state if they have trans fat and how much. And I believe that alot of restaurant chains (mcDonalds, etc..) have switched their oils that they fry their food in to those that don't have trans fat.

All fats can cause heart disease. That doesn't mean you can't eat them. Know what else causes heart disease? Smoking. Betcha didn't see that one coming.

            The cure:

            Quit smoking
            Antioxidants
            Fish
            Exercise
            Aspirin

            Problem solved.

It's more like they increase the chances then they actually cause those things. There are so many ways that you can die, and if you worry about death, you won't be happy.

I know it's not new news, it's been around for a while I just wanted to post this here, to let others aware. I know not everyone knows about it and that's what I'm trying to get at, I'm trying to get more people to know about it. I just copied and pasted my original post from my posting somewhere else from a while ago, so sorry if it seems 'WNYW Sensationalist'. And yes, a lot of places have switched their oils to better ones, hopefully all of them do one day. Yeah all fats can cause heart disease, but trans fat is the deadliest one, the one to worry about. Just trying to help people out.

The term "WNYW Senationalist" refers to the Fox station in New York, nationally known for its alarmist reporting. Sorry for calling you a sensationalist, it's just the message I got from the first post.

Dude, I'm trying to help people. This isn't a joke. Even some of the people that do know about it, probably aren't even taking it seriously enough. People ignore it and it ends up catching up with them. And for nothing really, you can be just as happy eating non trans fat foods.

Sorry, I didn't mean to trivialize your point. I agree, its plain evolution, our bodies aren't evolved to deal with this "new" type of lipid molecule (new as in that we haven't evolved with it for thousands of years). I just thought it was kind of obvious by this point. But I guess there are still people out there that don't know. Making your diet 100% trans-fat free is amazingly difficult though.. if you A) dont farm everything you eat yourself or B) have a job and thus cannot devote tons of time to picking out the most wholesome organic foods this side of Green Acres.

Then those people who ignore it or don't take it seriously have no one to blame but themselves. Same can be said to those that smoke or drink alot of alcohol. You can try and get the word out, but in the end, you can only help yourself.

Hrm, if you want to stay away from trans fat, don't eat a burger at McDonald's. They don't have much in them, but it's still in there. I'm surprised they haven't been forced to take it out.

Well, some people in New York sued KFC for their use of TFs a while ago.

Psst... I have an NBC Nightly News report about trans fats. Not going on YouTube for obvious reasons.
