They seem to think it's a high priest named Amun.

I don't mean to change the subject but when will people learn that when you enter a tomb, you'll be forever cursed? I'm serious, that stuff is real, you can't pay me enough to go in one.

Back on topic... is Amun famous for anything?

I believe that Amun was one of the most revered gods in the Egyptian pantheon, but it's been a long time since I read any of their myths.

Curses only work if you put faith into them. My aunt curses people all the time, I think she is just plain batty. She cursed her daughters ex boyfriends uh male parts, so far they have not fallen off. They are back together, and well my cousin is still joyful and invigorated.

My aunt also believes sociologists have it all figured out. I love her but man she is hilarious to talk to.

Please, the only thing thats going to kill you for going into a tomb is the bad air from being sealed off with rotting corpses for a few thousand years, and all the mold that grew in there.

Even the most famous "curse", the one on King Tut's tomb, was purely made up. Tutenkamun was buried too hastily to even have the standard curse inscribed on his tomb.

Mainly that Amun was the chief of the Egyptian gods, and had a short period where Egypt was monotheistic under the worship of Amun. In fact, thats where the "amun" in Tutenkamun comes from.

Unrelated, I know, but how "powdered mummy" was considered an aphrodisiac! and also mummies were used as fuel for trains? Thylacine thanks for interesting subjects.

wasn't there another female pharaoh (cleopatra) or am I thinking of something else?

also thread merged with the other egyptian mummies thread, and thread title changed accordingly

Nefertiti. They found her tomb also. Cleopatra did not rule during the height of the Egyptian empire, but she was the last ancient pharoh. It was technically Greek territory (then Roman.)

Its amazing how they are still finding mummies in Egypt to this day.

Not to mention shes not even Egyptian to began with; shes actually Macedon (which was a kingdom in northern-most part of ancient Greece) and a direct descendant of one of Alexander The Greats general.

By that time hardly any of the pharohs were Egyptian.
