Why has this topic has been beaten to the ground?
When I was a teenager I thought the "new" cartoons sucked. That was the 1990s.
They're only awful because you think they are. Cartoons aren't designed for us anymore...
To paraphrase "The Breakfast Club": The cartoons haven't changed...We have.

out of curiosity gusto, what did you like about the cartoons in the 80s that you didnt't like in the 90s?
Honestly i have to agree with that. i have seen cartoons from the 80s and they definitley have better humor than ones in the 90s.
Now i could be way off here, but, Road Runner and Coyote, was that 80s or much earlier than that? either way those you could easily laugh at because of all the things that go wrong with coyote and how the characters almost never said a word! that kind of humor is easy to laugh at!
Several reasons, really (in order they came into place);
1. FCC and the onslaught of sickeningly P.C. culture (Mid '90s)
2. When the FCC decided that all children's programs must be educational (Mid-late '90s)
2. Replacing of realistic-looking characters with stylized ones (Late '90s)
3. When traditional animation was no longer the norm (Late '90s-Early 00's)
4. War on Terror; many would-be creative geniuses were probably drafted (Early 00's)
5. When everyone started to try to copy anime styles and failed at it (Early '00s)
