They replaced the cartoons that we saw as kids and they're not the same.

first of all, cartoons these days are to kiddie. almost all violence has been eliminated. thats why kids are such pussies these days. the toons are too busy playing cards and giving long speaches about what the card can do (example: this card sucks balls so i will place it face down) the only fighting or battling that you see is between some stupid ass monsters that just happen to be smiling all the time. also, animators are trying too hard to mimic anime. not everybody likes japanese animation.. give it up!!

^ That, too. Damn FCC and 1940-something parents.

its not just the lack of badguys though thats a huge part* the other half to sucking so bad is how many filler episodes there makeing most of all in anime. theres more fillers in anime like bleach then there was in the whole series of sonic tiny toons and batman all put together!

Why has this topic has been beaten to the ground?

When I was a teenager I thought the "new" cartoons sucked. That was the 1990s.

They're only awful because you think they are. Cartoons aren't designed for us anymore...

Different humor, if I compare the two it's very different. I think today's cartoons aren't really different from the 1990s stuff.

I just couldn't get into many of the 90s cartoons. My brother made me watch them and I wanted to watch other things.

But I still loved cartoons at the ages of 13-22 (my ages between 1990-1999) just not most of the newer stuff. I like cartoons from the 1930s-1980s. Now there isn't a cartoon I really care about.

Honestly i have to agree with that. i have seen cartoons from the 80s and they definitley have better humor than ones in the 90s.

Now i could be way off here, but, Road Runner and Coyote, was that 80s or much earlier than that? either way those you could easily laugh at because of all the things that go wrong with coyote and how the characters almost never said a word! that kind of humor is easy to laugh at!

MUCH earlier than the 80s. They were created in the 40s.

i just barely watch any other channels except for boomerang and nicktoons since they have shows from the past. i must say, some of the new cartoons remind me of earlier cartoons, like stormhawks reminds me of reboot, wayside reminds me of the animation done by genndy tartakovsky's and paul rudish's cartoons. just look at the animation in that show. it's all over the place

                                  Several reasons, really (in order they came into place);

                                  1. FCC and the onslaught of sickeningly P.C. culture (Mid '90s)
                                  2. When the FCC decided that all children's programs must be educational (Mid-late '90s)
                                  2. Replacing of realistic-looking characters with stylized ones (Late '90s)
                                  3. When traditional animation was no longer the norm (Late '90s-Early 00's)
                                  4. War on Terror; many would-be creative geniuses were probably drafted (Early 00's)
                                  5. When everyone started to try to copy anime styles and failed at it (Early '00s)
