Which would you rather have? I'd rather have respect because I had and still have little. Plus, I've lost a lot of interest in materials.

I have a hellua lot of material crap. I'm still miserable -_-
Plus I always feel that I don't any respect from anyone, treating me like the special kid they HAVE to be nice to or something...

I'm doing decent financially, so I'm choosing respect. I often feel like Rodney Dangerfield, and I just want some respect.
Respect from whom? I've never given a shit what anyone thinks except for close friends and family, and they all treat me with respect. I'll take the money so i can retire.

There was a time when I would've said respect waxing over philosophical. Respect is worth more than gold etc.
Respect is something that is based on personal perspective and nowadays, I want to live my life and exactly like Shazbot says, my family and friends are the only ones that matter and theirs is the respect I'd most want.
But now I'd choose money, because in today's world money is time and if you have enough you'll have both the time and freedom to do the things you enjoy. And no, I'm not materielistic but I don't want to work all the time just so I can live, I want to spend time with the people that matter, friends and family.
I remember having this thing for a coworker and someone said at work that other gossip saying 'she's all fake like', all she did was take care of herself, looks and style wise and I responded 'If I got with her it won't be to please others but because it pleases me', that's basicly sums up how I feel.

i prefer Respect because it's good to have. i'm not saying Money isn't good to have but like Thylacine said, "it's usually kept longer."

I'd prefer respect. I'd rather have people like me and respect me, and hope that remains.
Id take the money. And if people didnt respect me id move !!!

They sort of have to. Otherwise, no one would work for them, they'll go bankrupt, they won't be able to feed themselves or their families, they'll get kicked out of their house, they have to live on the streets, they'll somehow gain an ability to sense humans from far away, they'll become cannibals, they'll eat everyone and then each other, the world will be in chaos, fish will come out of the water and start walking... uh... and... other animals will walk on two legs and gain opposable thumbs, then they'll take over the world. Do you really want that to happen?
