It's been awhile but since I'm back browsing the forums I thought I'd post one of these.

2007 World Series - *yawn* What a boring Series that was. And it seems like every year it's the same. I look forward to a World Series in the near future that actually reaches game 7.

Red Sox - Two world series titles just three years apart. The curse of the Great Bambino is thoroughly gone. But there is news eclipsing the Red Sox title win... and it may actually involve the Red Sox.

A-ROD! - Through his agent, A-Rod opts out of his $252 million contract. The move is apparently so huge that it almost completely blocks out the Red Sox winning the World Series. MLB has issued statements condemning A-Rod and his agent Scott Boras' choice to pick the potential world series climax to make their announcement. What would I say if I were Scott Boras? SCREW YOU, MLB!

A-Rod is big in New York but I didn't think the announcement would completely eclipse the World Series. To me, Joe Torre leaving the Yankees is far more important than A-Rod leaving, and it didn't seem to affect the playoffs too badly. If MLB wants to piss and moan, go after ESPN for their coverage. But now there is the inevitable rumor craze, and it seems to surround both A-Rod and the Red Sox. Perhaps a Johnny Damon-esque switch? Will we see A-Rod in messy facial hair? Who knows, but what I do know is that only a handful of teams can afford A-Rod's price tag. (Please note, I am not at all in any way a Yankee fan. I'm a fan of the lowly Washington Nationals)

Boston... Title-Town? - So with the Patriots winning big, the Red Sox winning the World Series, the Celtics making some big movies aquiring the likes of Kevin Garret, the Revolution being an elite MLS team, Boston College sitting at #2 in the BCS standings, and the Bruins having high hopes for their young team... well to quote Sean Salisbury from ESPN, "Boston has become the epicenter of the sports world". Do I believe that? We'll have to wait and see if they actually GET the titles first.

The Celtics may have made some improvements, but I don't see a "title" in their 2007/2008 season. They were dead LAST in the Eastern Conference with 24 wins and 58 losses last season. I see improvement, but that only means they'll simply suck a little less. The Boston Bruins are in the same boat as the Celtics. They look like they'll improve this year, already starting out 6-4 in the season, but they were dead LAST in the Northeast Division last season with 35 wins and 41 losses. Again, they'll just suck a little less this season. Boston College is pretty good, but they probably won't make the BCS title game. Their remaining schedule is as follows: vs. Florida State, at Maryland, at Clemson, vs. Miami. Only one of them is ranked, but none of them can be taken lightly. If BC loses just one of those games, there's no title shot. And in the crazy world of BCS standings, a one-loss team could find a way to up-end BC from their #2 spot even if they go undefeated.

So the teams with a legit title shot? Patriots and the NE Revolution. Patriots are scary good this year, so I wouldn't be surprised if Boston ends up with a World Series AND Superbowl title, but does two titles give them the name Title-Town?

Good to see another Washington Nationals fan on this site. We gotta stick together in these rough early years.

I was very disappointed by the World Series as well. It would really be in the best interest of MLB to try to help out the national league any way they could. The first thing they should do seems like a no-brainer to me: Don't let the All-Star game count for anything.

I feel like the whole "homefield advantage" thing was brought about by the sponsors, making sure people would want to watch and that big-name players would play. What sucks for baseball fans is that they'd probably watch the All-Star game anyways, and knowing that the victor of the All-Star game gets homefield advantage in the World Series actually cheapens the World Series.

Also, the AL has won every singe All-Star game since they started this stupid rule. Come'on Bud! Give us a break.

so how about those bungles? yeah they REALLY fouled up so bad, even a crowd of 66,000+ people booed them at the end of the game.

      66,000+ people. booing the bungals.

Were you the one who PMed me months ago about going to see Sgt. Slaughter at a baseball game? Anyways, I didn't know you were a Nats fan. Good to know. The new stadium looks pretty sweet, although I still don't think it fits with the traditional architecture of Washington D.C. Regardless, even though I live in northern New Jersey I'll be down there for opening day.

All-Star game determining homefield advantage is rough, but I'm not sold on the NL being completely inept to win an All-Star game. I'm just dissappointed that the NL hasn't be able to pull it off lately. AL domination is clear, despite the Cardinals winning the world series not too long ago. NL needs to step up, otherwise it could be another boring world series next year.

You all ever see that dude Frank Caliendo impersonating John Madden when he is talking about Brett Favre?

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XBW7ysPcbT0 (starts talking about him around the 4:50 mark)

Also, what's with the last name Favre... its pronounced "Farve", but it is not spelled as such.

Also, I was the one that PM'ed you about Sgt. Slaughter. He was awesome.

In addition, the Nationals will be big-time in 3-5 years, I believe.

Packers are a big shock. Imagine a Packers vs. Patriots superbowl. It would literally be Rocky IV, NFL style. An old champion against a new one, a team with a lot of heart and a team that has been absolutely ruthless and cut-throat so far in the season.

It would be very interesting, and it's not hard to see who America would be rooting for the most.

RO-CKY! RO-CKY! I mean... Bret Favre! Bret Favre!
