One of the things that pissed me off most about the Star War prequels was the overuse of CGI to make all the characters. What made the original trilogy so great was the puppet technology that Jim Henson and George Lucas used to animate Yoda, Jabba the Hutt and the rest of the wierd creatures in the movie. You got a sense that the creatures were real, at least in real in the movie and not some computer graphic!!
So I want to hear thoughts about CGI vs Puppets (Muppets). Which is better? My vote is the Muppets.

It's to bad theres not a happy medium, using both makes one or the other look out of place but if i had to chose it would be muppets

I would prefer muppets as well. There are some creatures that end up as CGI and they look really bad.

If CGI is done well, then it looks great, if not, it looks like shit. Same can go for muppets.

I was sad when I heard that George Lucas wasn't using a "muppet" Yoda. But when I saw the cg Yoda, I didn't think it was horrible, he looked real to me. But in all honesty I miss the muppets, like in "The Dark Crystal".. If they ever remake that, it will be cgi.

Yeah, I gotta go with muppets as well. I'm not really a fan of CGI at all. In my opinion, it has helped to ruin a lot of horror movies.

Puppets mostly, but CGI has its place.

CGI isn't that bad for me but I do perfer Muppets. I don't really like CGI used on toddler shows on PBS, like one of the programs I see on PBS kids include a person and a CGI hamster, I don't even know the name of that show since I didn't really bother watching it. I didn't like it when they made the Twiddlebugs CGI. They were originally muppets but now they made them CGI for some stupid reason. I liked them better as Muppets, it's they're muppets in the first place then they should stay muppets, I mean what's next, making CGI versions of all the Sesame Street characters?

I preffer muppets, but the CGI yoda was pretty good. A lot of the CGI creatures looked pretty bad. The monsters in clone wars in the colloseaum were pretty bad.

I much prefer Muppets and puppetry, but CGI can have its place too. I just don't think that place is for creatures placed into live action. Very rarely is it convincing. The most convincing CG characters I've seen have been in Lord of the Rings, but they're the exception.

It'd be nice to see Muppets make a comeback.

Muppets In A Live Action Film

I Only Think CGI looks good in a COMPLETE CGI Film

After seeing 'Meet the Feebles', there is no way I am choosing CGI. It doesn't get any cooler than exploding muppets stuffed with ground beef.

I like CGI, but I don't like it when it's overused and looks bad...and usually it's both of these things unfortunatley.

                              muppets.

at least with CGI (especially when CGI+live) you don't have to feel like you're talking to yourself as much.

My friend's younger sibling was once watching a recent episode of Arthur, and it was also in CGI!

I like both, but I miss seeing muppets in movies, I think CGI gets used too much.
