A 60's television favorite, comedian and actor Jonathan Winters died at his home in Montecito, California of natural causes Thursday evening, 4/11/2013. He was 87 years old.

He was very familiar to fans of 60's television because he seemed to be a guest on every variety show that aired back in the day. And like all well known stars of the time, Jonathan Winters list of friends reads like a Who's Who of TV and movie heavyweights.

I think everyone will enjoy this clip from "The Dean Martin Comedy Hour" Celebrity Roast: for Johnny Carson that aired in 1973.

REST IN PEACE Jonathan Winters
The Eldorado is dead. Long live the Eldorado.

Lots of comedians hail Jonathan Winters as the king of improvisational comedy. And yet as a kid I was struck by the number of characters Jonathan created that reminded me of Red Skelton's TV show from the 1960's.

And don't forget that Mr. Winters starred in that wonderful comedy film
"The Russians Are Coming, the Russians Are Coming!" from 1966:

The Eldorado is dead. Long live the Eldorado.

I'm always amazed when these veterans do the voices of characters beloved by newer generations. Ya done good ol' man!
