As in a "Reboot" much like "Batman Begins" or "Casino Royale", it should be a 2-part big screen new adaptation of Michael Ende's beloved fantasy book "The Neverending Story". I could see someone talented like Guillermo Del Toro ("Pan's Labyrinth", "Hellboy" and "Blade 2"), Peter Jackson or Alfonso Cauron ("Harry Potter and The Prisoner of Azkaban") to do this ideal 2 part big screen film.

They could be real faithful and accurate to the original novel which could please fans of the book, sure the original 1984 movie was a great movie in it's own right but wasn't really quite faithful. Yes the sequels aren't good especially the beyond bad third one, but i was thinking the series needs a fresh new start.

Ron Perlman would be perfect to play The Rock-Chewer, MGM with Universal and Dino De Laurentiis Productions would be the perfect studios to do it. Nick Nolte can be a good voice of either Falkor or The Gmork, afterall with the successes of "LOTR", "Harry Potter", "Narnia", "Pan's Labyrinth", "Spiderwick Chronicles", "Hellboy" and such other fantasy flicks of recent memory there could be a possiblity.

Eh...I dunno. I'm tired of all the remakes/rehashes/re-imaginings. Why can't people just read the book?

I think they should make another movie...and it should be a cartoon! LOL

see what I did there

And i suppose you think "The Dark Knight" and "Batman Begins" are remakes too? Absolutely not, they have nothing to do with Tim Burton's and Joel Schumacher's films cause they belong to a new universe and new franchise.

Have you even read the book? excellent stuff, even better then the movie.

Jonathan Brandis committed suicide a couple of years ago.

Doesn't it piss you off that Ende keeps writing, "but that's another story and will be told at another time."
I thought the movie was way better than the book. The book was only good until about half way through when Bastian saves Fantasia. Then it got super stupid.

Oh really? well maybe it could be done like the full adaptation of the book idea like mine.

I still think the book was way bizarre.

A remake would be AWESOME simply because the costumes would be soooo much better. Perhaps some sweet CG. ooo This is cool news. The neverending story was always one of my favorites.

Why does Hollywood constantly see the need to re-invent the wheel? The first Neverending Story was fine, and was quite enough. I wish they'd learn to tell new stories and leave old ones alone.

Well what did you think of "Batman Begins" and "Casino Royale"? now those are awesome reinventions of franchises.

No, that was Jonothan Brandis in the second movie, Jason James Ritcher who was in the 3rd movie is still alive!
