Every time a 12-13-14 year old posts something about there memories or playing there sega or an old cartoon people who are like in their 20's say 90's stuff isnt retro. but if some older like 18-19 post something about a cartoon from the 90's its ok thats BS or how many times do you read some 19 year old talking about how they ruined NICK all the major transactions took place in the 90's when they took off all the good shows but thats ok. When were the ones who watched NICK at that time.

I agree. I mean, I highly doubt all the younger kids on here got on here to live some crazy lie and mess with everyone's head. I remember very well back to age 4, and that age would have been in the late 90s for you younger kids. I say that's just great that there are kids here who love what ever year(s) they remember in the 90s and want to talk about it.

I say thanks to you younger kids for staying here for the love of the 90s, even when some older members try to drive you away. Good for you!

I don't care how old people are on here, as long as they like things from the 90s, 80s, 70s, and older.

Well what can i say if young people want to get on here and post about things from the 90s thats perfectly fine, i really could care less about age and it makes no diffrence to me if your 14 or 52 as long as you have memories of that time period.

If you can hold your own in a conversation here without thinking that the 2000s are retro, I'm with ya.

OP, you have a good point.

People, just don't let this turn into a "Kids of today don't know what they're missing" thread.

            Thank you.

My only concern with the age range mentioned is whether it is wise or not for someone that age to even be freely roaming the internet at all without supervision. But that's a parental choice...not ours.

To the 12-14 year olds...be careful.

I never play attention to the user ages on here. As long as if they love retro things, then I have no problem with you. Of course, there's nothing wrong with liking current stuff either.

As long as you don't think Windows Vista is retro, then you're good to stay on the forums.

And do you know who Krang is? I know who he is since I have a VHS with an older TMNT episode and the SNES game, so I'm good to stay.

And I heard he earned his keepsake.

I know that when I was around 18, I saw one of those infommercials for 80's music..and that's when I starting really getting nostalgic for my past and the 80's decade. Because by 1995...the 80's was def a different decade than the 90's. And alot of the music, tv or whatever was no longer being played.

However the 2000's are alot different. It's 2008 and this decade is almost over, but I don't really see much of change from 2000 to now...or even anything that really distinguises the 2000's from the late 90's! I mean there are a few things different but not really a big drastic decade defining change. Such as how the 70's were all psychadellic, bell-bottoms, afros, 8-track tapes...and by like 1983...no bell bottoms, no fros, pastel colors and 8-tracks were completely out of style!

As for 12-14 yr olds...I really can't see what they have any nostalgia for. Number one, they are still kids so what do they long for in their lives from 5-10yrs ago...being in the crib? LOL I mean, the same tv shows are still on, same music being played, same food being eaten, same cartoons, same clothing styles... And if you want to be ultra modern.. they still have the internet, music still on CDs..even though they have ipods now and you still have Windows XP! LOL

I'm a little confused that people want to get nostalgic for their childhood before they have even left their childhood.
Can you at least WAIT a few years for the 2000s to cool off before you get all wistful about All Grown Up and As Told By Ginger?

I was always a bit of an 80s nut in my childhood, but it was because I was obsessed with the music. I was born in 1985 and can only remember bits of 1987-1989, so I couldn't exactly get nostalgic and I didn't, I just envied those who grew up in the 80s because it was a cooler time. I didn't really start to become nostalgic until my senior year of high school when I was into downloading old Sega CD ISOs and 32X ROMs.

There are a few things. The problem is that we really can't see the changes while we're living in them. Just wait about 30 years, and you'll be able to look back and tell the difference.

If anything, the 2000s have largely been a repeat of the 80's. But here's just a few examples:

                        90's music - predominantly grunge
00's music - predominantly pop and glam (with a huge 80's influence)

Several styles of the 80's have come back into vogue. (I saw a girl with legwarmers on the other day. Shudder!)

When I was first entering middle school (1992), I was nostalgic for my Elementary School days and age.:P

There is so much stuff that is different about now from the late 90's to early 2000's.

                              - Rice Rockets were everywhere, there dead now.
                              - Everyone used hair gel like mad crazy not anymore...
                              - Piercings were HUGE late 90's, no one get's piercings anymore.
                              - Tribal Tattoos...
                              - There was really no such thing as Energy Drinks...
                              - Everyone still used 56k modems
                              - Old Navy was "cool"
                              - DVDS were still very new.
                              - 50 inch flat screens were 10,000 dollars.
                              - Grunge music was still alive
                              - EMO had not yet invaded the world like it has.
                              - MTV was still playing music videos
                              - Pre 911 the world wasn't so fucking paranoid and PC about everything.

Also to add, I think theres nothing wrong with teenagers on retro website, but I do find it sad that someone so young would already start dreaming about when they were really little and how those were great times. I mean someone born in 1996? Would someone born in 96 remember anything from the 90's besides pictures they see of themselves?

Could it be because you have almost the same name, and you just switched 2 numbers around in your birthdate?
