I go there for groceries every week and they usually have what i need and at cheaper price. Some prices are actually higher than what being a Vons member would pay, but theyre usually what i dont need. and i like the deli food.

anyways.............why?

There's lots of reasons, but the big one is they move into small towns and run everything out of business. Watch the documentary "The High Cost of Low Prices." Or read the book The Wal-mart effect.

Maybe exploitation of third-world nation workers, low wages to employees, unfair monopolization over independent businesses.

Yes, it's convenient, but it has many evils.

People hate Wal-Mart because they are Republican. I am a Republican myself, and it seems to me that democrats hate everything (maybe not everything, but a lot of things).

Your community can fight Wal-Mart though. If the community you live in doesn't want it there, make sure you organize and work through your local government. They wanted to bring a Wal-Mart into the very small town we live in. The area I live in was simply not designed to handle the kind of traffic a Wal-Mart would have brought. Not only that, we have a Wal-Mart within 15 minutes both North and South of us so we didn't need it.

To make a long story short, our community ran Wal-Mart out before they even got it. It CAN be done.

the other day me and my friend were in one, joking around and were about to play baseball with and a worker came up. I ran around to another aisle(and said "He did it!" lol)

and they were like "put that back please"

my friend said we should do something, like I was going to open a bag a chips and walk around the store eating it. he said the most they could do is ask us to leave

okay, let's drag the politics out of this, aight?

                        that said...

                        1) they tried to sell bloody swimwear at a wal*mart once
                        2) the other day I was getting three doughnuts which should've been $1.80. the dumbass minimum wager rang it up at $13.50 and the asst. manager kept covering it up thinking we ordered three dozen which in no way adds up to $13.50
                        3) they make stuff in SWEATSHOPS.

                        wal*mart more like china*mart rofl

that said, everytime you send (part of) an economic stimulus check to a walmart, you're only stimulating china's economy. so please, buy made in USA, union made if possible.

                          1) no english speaking employees
                          2) 30 minute wait to check out

True. Two of my friends used to work there. One got fired for helping customers that weren't in his assigned department (!) and the other got fired for helping his co-workers with an overload of work.

As for myself, I really don't hate Wal-Mart, per se. I just hate the parking and the crowds.

I don't hate Wal-Mart either. I just want to know what is the point of the express lane saying "20 items or less"?

if that's the case, then what is a "larger" load?

remember when they used to be 10 items or less?

                              what happened to that?

I worked at a Walmart Super Center unloading trucks for a while and the cheap bastards gave me $6.50/hr, twenty five cents of it because I had a college degree. Funk that!

Anyway, that sounds pretty brutal to me.

I don't shop for swimwear there anyway.

I applied to work there once. I took their employment test and scored a 100 percent. Oh, and the questions were ones a baby could solve.

I hate Wal-Fart more than I like it. They treat their employees like garbage, pay them next to nothing, (as others have said) put small businesses out of commission, and it seems to be THE place for bratty kids and entitled/stupid paprents to hang out. I have never gone to Wal-Fart and not heard at least three babies screaming blue murder.

Not to mention, they never have the fuckin' toys I want. I used to go there for my Pokemon needs, but fuck, they don't even have Pokemon toys at the local one anymore.

I give them kudos for low prices (which is why they pay their workers so damn little), for the occasional cool shirt and ladies' jeans, and for their crafts section. I buy all my material for my sewing projects there, whether it's felt or faux fur. In fact, the only reason I patronize Wal-Fart is for fabric. I go to KMart for toys and the thrift store for clothes.
