Can you think of anyone at all (be it a friend or one of your family members) that has suffered from progeria syndrome, which means that you "look old when young".
The most common form of the two main types of progeria is the Hutchinson-Gilford Progeria Syndrome, or HGPS. The effects of HGPS occur in individuals from birth, and HGPS-inflicted people usually do not live past the point of puberty (between ages 12 and 16). Five children in an Indian family were diagnosed with HGPS as of 2003; two of them have died, while the oldest-living member of the family, a girl (Rehanna Khan), was 19 years old while the boy (Ikramul Khan) was 17 years old, and another child was 7 years old. Their story was told in the program, The 80-Year Old Children.
The other form of progeria is Werner Progeria Syndrome (named for Dr. Otto Werner), or WPS. The effects of WPS start occurring in individuals after the point of puberty. Individuals affected by this type of progeria usually live until the age gap of 35 and 44 years, by which point the senior-age looks in them are already at an all-time high.
