I just got BURNED, literally, I was using a pan with oil in it and when I was finished with it I took it to the sink and put cold water on it, either the steamed burned me, or the oil somehow burned me, on my hand, and it HURTS, there is no blistering but its red. I haven't had much experience with burns, what should I put on it? and will it blister? :(

    That sucks. Was it your whole palm or a part of your hand? May need some kind of ointment for that, I think Neosporin is designed for small burns or something like that. I dunno if it'll blister, I got burned a couple times but it never blistered. Guess it depends if it affects a large area.

      ::sigh::
      Why would you do that? Oil and water don't mix, adding cold water to a hot pan of oil will make the oil pop up all over. Also, don't ever put hot pans in the fridge or put a cold dish in the oven( it will crack it).

      Keep running cold water over the burn. Even if it isn't still near the heat (or oil in your case), it will keep burning through the layers of your skin. Run cold water on it. DO NOT put butter or anything dumb like that on it (they use to tell you to do that). If it is still bothering you in a couple hours, I would either put black save on it (pharmacy) or break off some aloe plant and put the sap on it.

        Its on the side of my hand where the thumb part is, and wraps around to some of my palm. At the moment I just have Neosporin on it, and cotton balls and that white medical one sided sticky gauze stuff lol.

          I know, I was being stupid. I have a thing where I need to clean the stuff I dirtied before I eat, and I was rushing :( I'll run some cold water on it.

              Well, don't cover it with cottonballs or anything else. It needs air.
              Does it only start hurting when you stop running the cold water on it?

                  To quote the great DebrisStorm,"aloe plant is what you need". They are fairly cheap too. You can buy them anywhere and then you have them handy if you ever need it in the future. Just remember to water it.

                  Until then, fill a cup with really cold water and soak it for a couple minutes.

                  If it makes you feel any better, Shawn got burned at work on Wednesday too. Electrical burn from the tip of his thumb all the way up the palm and up the index finger. Electrical burns hurt like a mutha fucker too. One of the new kids working on his crew fucked up and somehow didn't make sure it was grounded.

                        I would buy the plant. It is more concentrated treatment, all natural, and then you would have a plant that last forever (in case you get stupid again). The small ones cost almost nothing. Under 10 bucks.

                        Aloe vera was popularized in the United States, in the 18th and 19th primarily as a laxative and today it is used to keep skin beautiful and to heal burns, sunburn, ulcerations, frostbite, radiation injuries, psoriasis, cuts, insect stings, poison ivy and other dermatologic problems.

                        Theapeutic properties

                        Aloe vera contains vitamins and minerals needed to heal skin lesions such as vitamin C, vitamin E, and zinc. It also has antifungal and antibacterial effects which help to prevent infections.

                                        You learned a lesson, NickRules. Now you will wait for the pan to cool down next time.

                                        As for your burn, I'm sure you will recieve good advice.

                                        My advice is aloe vera.
