Today (April 8, 2014), Microsoft will retire support of its Windows XP operating system. What are your thoughts on this?

Windows XP was good, Windows 7 is not bad, haven't used 8 that much, There's no reason to linger with XP. Just upgrade your stuff and move on...

Sounds logical. Most programs now won't even run on XP. I still don't get why old CD roms can't be played on newer operating systems though.

I don't miss Windows XP too much.

Very good operating system. It served me well in the time I had it. Seven isn't too bad however, and the less I say about Vista and 8, the better.

I liked 95/98/ME/2000/XP better than the later ones. After XP all Windows versions require an Outlook email address to use most of the preloaded tools, but Gmail and Yahoo are more secure.

I still can't believe how long it's been since XP first came out, and that Microsoft has been supporting it for that long. Still, it had a good run and it was a very stable operating system even to this day. If you are going to upgrade, then I would suggest going with Windows 7. Windows Vista was full of bugs and Windows 8 is terrible.

There's also Windows 9 coming out which is said to happen in April of next year. Here's hoping Microsoft makes it more like a regular desktop computer and gives it the stability of Windows XP.

The only thing I didn't like about XP was that IE6 took 3 minutes to load a webpage.

Whatzuh? I've used Paint, Snipping Tool, Movie Maker, DVD Maker, Photo Gallery, Internet Explorer, Media Center, and Media Player on Windows 7 and have never needed any kind of email address to do so.
