The creator/author of The Last Unicorn has announced during his tour of a new 2K scanned restored version of the 1982 cult Rankin Bass animated fantasy classic that he is gonna write a script for a new live-action version of his book.

Sounds awesome, i dug the movie since i was 4 and i read the book in junior high and dug it too. I always wanted a live-action adaptation for years and i have an ideal cast.

Patrick Stewart, Doug Bradley (aka Pinhead on Hellraiser and Lylesberg in Nightbreed) or Robert Englund or Alan Rickman as King Haggard.
Emily Browning from Sucker Punch as Lady Amalthea/Unicon's voice.
Joel Moore from Avatar and Grandma's Boy as Schemndrick.
Chris Pine as Lir.
Helen Bonnie Carter as Molly.
Ron Perlman as Captain Culley.
Kane Hodder as Ruhk.
Voice of Cat should be Jim Cummings or Robbie Coltrane.
Linda Hunt as Mommy Fortuna.

Alfonso Cauron should direct and for producers James Cameron and Peter S Beagle and Guillermo Del Toro. Rick Baker or Tom Savini can do make up and WETA for the effects and for studios i can see Fox/Carolco (Yes they are coming back this year)/MGM.

You just wowed me, has it really been 33 years?

Well it truly seems that enough time has passed that this project can proceed like a fresh idea, not tied to the animated movie at all. That gives everyone involved the freedom to re-imagine every aspect of the story.

Your cast selection listed above is well balanced, you've considered how the characters would play against each other. I like how the emphasis remains on the voice, get characters that sound right and you can alter appearance as needed.

For some reason "The Last Unicorn" makes me think of Middle-earth.

^ I find it hard to believe too, eddie. Probably my most beloved animated movie after Fantasia.

A live action TLU adaptation has been in the cards for decades,I hope whoever directs it is familiar with the source.

Do you like my ideal directors and producers?

Im sure hundreds of bronies who enjoyed the original film and book with graphic novel will flock to this movie.
