I've been watching the old Batman show on blu-ray. Something struck me. When Gordon calls Batman, Alfred answers the phone....just like that. He doesn't disguise his voice or anything. Gordon has said that he's a friend of Bruce Wayne and has been to his house multiple times. So, it stands to reason that he would have met Alfred. How does he not recognise Alfred's voice? For that matter, how does he not recognise Bruce Wayne's voice? He doesn't change his voice either. And Robin. How does Gordon not recognise Dick/Robin? Dick uses the same expressions as he does when he's Robin and doesn't change his voice, either.

I just don't get it. This is just about as obvious as people not seeing that Clark Kent and Superman are the same person. Though, in Superman's case, you can kind of forgive it. In the movies, at least, Superman can compress his spine and make himself several inches shorter.

Uh.. we are talking about the 60's cornball TV show, right? It's like someone genuinely wondering how Mike Nelson eats and breaths, and other science facts, on MST3K. LOL

We know how Mike Nelson eats and breaths. He's on a space station. Air tanks and food....simple.

People sound different on the phone.

In that case, the commissioner should have recognised Bruce Wayne's voice. He's spoken to Bruce and Batman. Bruce didn't change his voice any.
